In this movie reaction, I watch PUSS IN BOOTS THE LAST WISH for the first time and I'm completely in love with Perrito! He's such a cute and lovable cat, and I feel so sympathetic for him throughout the entire movie!

The sequel to the spin-off film Puss in Boots (2011) and the sixth installment in the Shrek franchise, the film was directed by Joel Crawford and co-directed by Januel Mercado. Based on the character from Shrek 2 (2004) and inspired from the eponymous fairy tale, the film's screenplay was written by Paul Fisher and Tommy Swerdlow, with a story by Swerdlow and Tom Wheeler (the latter of whom wrote the 2011 film). The voice cast of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish includes Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek Pinault reprising their respective roles as the titular character and Kitty Softpaws, and are joined by Harvey Guillén, Florence Pugh, Olivia Colman, Ray Winstone, Samson Kayo, John Mulaney, Wagner Moura, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, and Anthony Mendez, who voice new characters introduced in the film. Set after Shrek Forever After (2010), the film follows Puss in Boots as he journeys to find the mystical Last Wish for the Wishing Star by teaming up with Kitty and Perrito (Guillén) to restore the first eight of his nine lives, by wishing on the mystical Last Wishing Star. They must race against Goldilocks and her Three Bears Crime Family (Pugh, Winstone, Colman, and Kayo), and "Big" Jack Horner (Mulaney), who all desire the star; Puss must also avoid a mysterious hooded wolf (Moura), who plots to kill him.

  • They gave Perrito every single trait to make him an annoying character... But he's not, he just works. Truly awesome movie.
  • @MrSirFluffy
Perrito's name is thematically perfect, since his crew has similar naming conventions. Puss (means Cat), Kitty (means little cat), and Perrito (means little dog).

When Kitty starts screaming in Spanish, it's something like "I'll turn you all into bathroom rugs"
  • @marcusc9931
Jack Horner's story being a miniscule one is the whole point. It's just four lines of a nursery rhyme. He's not as cool as proper fairy tales, and has spent his whole life compensating.

Perrito curses so aggressively but he still has that award winning smile on his face 🤣

patches rubbing her head against the microphone AND THEN HEARING HER PURRING INTO THE MICROPHONE made my heart so happy
  • Once again, Antonio Banderas is irreplaceable as Puss In Boots.
  • 19:23 The common theory that most people have come to believe (me included) is that Kitty lied about not being at the altar, which actually makes sense when you consider the behavior of both Puss and Kitty before they had this serious conversation. Whenever either of them mentioned Santa Coloma it would usually result in Kitty showing some hostility towards Puss; then there’s Goldilocks’ comment about how she thought Kitty was on a “spiritual journey” which she would’ve undertaken somewhere between Santa Coloma and the Wishing Star Map heist and therefore was likely an excuse to spend some time away from everything in order to recover from a likely heartache after being left at the altar and is likely the catalyst for her desire to reach the wishing star in the first place especially when you take into consideration what her wish was towards the climax of the movie; and then there’s the fact that she softens up a bit more towards Puss after eavesdropping on his conversation with Perrito from that point forward and she even remarks how she believes that Puss isn’t “that same person as back then” which implies that she really believes that Puss has changed or is at least trying to make an effort to be a better person and is the reason why at 23:02 Kitty sounds devastated when she confronted Puss because she genuinely thought that she could’ve had what she wanted all this time with Puss and likely opened up some old emotional wounds again. This movie really surprised me with how good it was when it came to the characters, the engaging story and the action sequences were so 🔥🔥🔥, can’t wait to see what the next movie has in store n

Perrito could have easily been the annoying comic relief character. Thank goodness they had the wisdom to make him the pure good boy for this movie.
  • Perrito's backstory is so tragic, and whoever tries to abandon a dog the way Perrito's family abandoned him is so heartless. Thank goodness Perrito still remained wholesome with a never-ending positivity, and he learned to enjoy the simple things of life, despite the fact that he was always treated like crap.

I just wanna say, I understand Goldie. It's not like she didn't love the bears, she just felt out of place. Which wasn't helped by all the teasing Baby had towards her. It might seem they just had their little banter together. But constantly being told "you're no family of mine!" must really cut deep to someone who already feel like they don't belong. You can clearly see during the part at 19:00, when Mama puts her paw on Goldies shoulder, that she truly love them. And she feels guilty for not feeling at home with them. So in her mind she likely feels the bears would be better off without her. But that might be me reading a bit much into it. It's also showed during her speech when she reveals her wish to them. When she says "I'm not a bear" she sounds disappointed in herself. Not to mention how she clutches and almost hides behind her staff. She feels awful for thinking like this. which is why I love their interaction after Jack blows up. Them all hugging and Baby finally calling her "sis"  Her story really stuck with me. And it hurts to see lots of reactors think Goldie is some heartless monster for her wish. I didn't see that here, but I still want to spread more Goldie support

The horse thing is a reference to classic iconic shots of Zorro, whom the character Puss In Boots in the film is inspired by, and the role that Antonio Banderas, Puss' voice actor, is best known for.
  • @rockmacher
At the end when the wolf screams in Spanish he says “WHY THE HELL DID I HAVE TO GO AND PLAY WITH MY FOOD??!”
  • Goldis outfit and appearance is meant to show how she's been raised by the bears. Her hair looks like bear ears, her earrings are mismatched like Mama Bear, the necklace and her eyes are the same as Baby Bear's, and the scars over her eyebrow match Papa Bears missing eye

Jack Horner is not a fairy tale, it is a nursery rhyme. Its origins are murky, but even in the early days the nursery rhyme character of Jack Horner became associated with spoiled boys of privilege. So making Jack a psychopathic narcissist who grew up with everything but still wants more was a brilliant stroke with nods to the rhyme’s most common interpretations.
  • Your expression when the Wolf went, "I just LOVE the smell of fear!" was so raw and priceless.
  • @degov5
It was fun having Jack Horner as a simple, evil villain. No complex backstory, no redemption arc, no sympathetic actions, just "I'm bad because I want to be bad."
  • Perrito was pure perfection. They gave him the perfect personality and his never-ending positivity was so wholesome. Like he is the definition of man's best friend and more. 🥺🥺❤❤
