Why is he wasting time going around trying to preach to people? The activities at Orange Mound are very common and the neighborhood has been broken for decades. The mayor said he wants to have midnight basketball and a new recreation center as solves for crime (Democratic Playbook). Someone who has the courage should ask him how did he spend all of his free time as a youth after school. Did he spend his time playing basketball or hanging out at the recreation centers, or was his time spent doing homework, reading, eating dinner at the table with family and preparing for the next school day? Why would kids who are already behind academically need more time to play? The problems in Orange Mound and all chocolate cities across America resides within the homes. Poor undereducated parents create life and pass their generational curses down to their children. The remits of the poor decision making are children born in poverty and forced to taste the evil flavor of poverty and neglect; kids forced to raise themselves because their mother has either no desire or no understanding of what it means to be a parent; and environments where all of the education received concerning how not to live comes from Pimps, Drug Dealers, Hustlers, Past Felons, and a host of other shady characters. Our kids are conditioned to believe the only exit opportunities are in Football, Basketball, and Music, so the majority of the kids have no idea of what it means to be excellent in the classroom, so the cycle of having children, living in poverty and living without hope and no dreams gets handed down like eye color, and skin tone. Can someone with influence please say out loud, what so many already know, we need help developing strong healthy families, job skills, positive morals and values. Why is it so hard for blacks to say out loud that having a 18-25 year old single mother trying to raise her 3-5 children alone will not lead to positive outcomes and this is the example of what we call a family in black and brown communities.
