What are some of your favorite one-minute habits that help keep your home tidy? 🤍
  • My friends and family always ask how I have the time to keep my house so tidy, and I swear I don’t even feel like I clean because I do so many little habits like this! My space never gets out of control messy, so I rarely spend a long time cleaning.

When my children were small, I worked long hours on the weekend. On Monday after dinner, we had 15 minute pick up. We each had a job- dishes, vacuum, pick up, dust. We played upbeat music and set the timer. It was amazing how much we accomplished in 15 minutes!

Having a fixed spot for everything makes cleaning so much quicker

You can prevent a lot of hair in the shower by brushing your hair right before you step in. My hairdresser gave me this tip. That one is less than a minute.
  • In smaller spaces, like a messy bathroom counter, I’ll use a 5-second rule that’s sort of like the minute rule: if it would take me 5 seconds or less to put something away, do it now; if it would take longer, I can decide when to do it. I count down from 5 as I start putting something away and then restart the count when I pick up another item. It’s truly amazing how a few seconds clears a space right up.

Every Wednesday I do a reset in my home. I just go through the whole house and wipe/pick up what I haven't gotten to yet. It's hard with 5 kids home 24/7 with homeschool. It's not laziness- it's my chronic illness that's so aggressive that's interfering with my ability to have it spotless. I liked your video. Great tips and not judging. You never know why someone's home is the way it is. I agree on the counters! And bed making. Huge difference just in that.

I take photos of my rooms and that shows me the clutter that needs removed. Sometimes we do not see it because it becomes part of the background.

When I come home I always put my wallet on the shelf in the foyer closet & the keys go on a small hook on the inside of the foyer closet door. Special tickets for concerts , the train, sports events , ect. go in the same place in a kitchen cabinet. Receipts from recent purchases also go in the same place in case I need to return them . Basically use the same place for various important items so you know where they are at all times . Also, empty the clothes dryer and dishwasher soon after they turn off.

Great video! I am a housewife, he works from home. There are certain things I do daily so it dosen't build up. Then there are things I do once or twice a week so our home stays neat & clean. I find it is much easier than letting things get behind and having a lot of stuff to do.

A number of new tips for me. Thank you. Some tips will not apply in tropical countries with humid weather. Used 🧥 👟 are better left to air or aerated in between use instead of placed in closed closets.

I am seeing the effects of having NOT done this for 2 weeks. I have to spend a long time tidying and cleaning today. Dishes, fridge dated food, amazon packaging and some returns. Some shopping not packed away. Dresser/bathroom littered with products, piles of mail etc etc. I have had a realisation today, i need to follow your advice. My mind is blown 😅

Dude - great video. Very helpful tips such as putting shoes, coats, bags away away as soon as you get in the door. Resetting all the spaces as frequently as possible. I laughed when you said, "60 second touch up before guests" ... 60 seconds?! More like 60 minutes over here! Lol. Hope to continue working on building up these small habits. Thanks for sharing.
  • @sreyphon-thill3297
The fact that I was already doing these things makes me smile 😊 Tfs
  • @peachphs
Loved this video ❤ I started doing most of these habits years ago when I realised living in my clutter was not helping my anxiety or stress levels and you’re so right, a clutter free home, workspace and car is so nice and makes living life less stressful. My husband used to think I’m being unnecessarily extra, but he’s since understood that I just hate having things pile up and having to clean up a big mess.
  • Thank-you, it took me awhile to figure these all out for myself but I did and my home is a lovely refuge. I’m sending this to my three young adult children. A big one is processing the mail immediately and dealing with action items right away. This is a big anxiety reliever. It seems hard but it makes things better if we will just do it as a habit.
  • @rosieroberts6738
I’ve done ALL….of these items ALWAYS…for years!!! It really helps keep a tidy home!!!😊❤
  • @klaudiajanikova
I’m so proud of myself that I’m doing most of these things ☺️ years ago I used to be messy until I realised it’s double work to clean after. 🙈😁
  • @emmsue1053
Great video, my Gran used to say the same as you, "never leave a room empty handed" .. I tend to do little things as a habit & also do half an hour or so every morning & evening. It isn't a show home but we are usually tidy! Love the genius idea of scanning receipts, I have a filing cabinet thing at the mo but I'm going to work on that!!
  • @ShakeMyWay
Great list! Took me many years to learn these on my own, but now my home is a beautiful sanctuary!
