honestly I love Object-mons, they're a reminder that the world of pokemon isn't just a world with dragons, rats with tazers and geckos with lighters, it's a magical place with all kinds of magical creatures
  • Personally I think object mon make sense considering japan’s culture. There’s literally an entire type of yokai which are literal objects with souls and sentience. There’s actually quite a lot from curtains that will strangle you too paper walls with thousands of eyes. I don’t think non Japanese monster catchers have a lot of object mon, but that may be my bad memory. So ya, it makes sense for all the Japanese ones.
  • Pokemon designs are so much more creative than people give credit for. Even the ones that are easy punching bags have a lot of thought put into. My favorite example is Klefki. It’s not a keychain, it’s a fairy that steals people’s keys. Even the hole where it’s mouth would be is a keyhole and a cleft palate. Which is where “Klef” comes from.
  • In order to keep with the theme of Pyro- and Hydro- type, you could name the Ghost type Ecto-
  • I have no problems with object mons as long as they are done well. The Tunirad line looks pretty amazing along with its concepts. I may op to go with Tuniduct as my choice.
  • Object mons have always been a favorite for me, I just believe that they're a bit more creative than just "dog" and "bird". Even if its just "trash bag" at least you have to go through to process of making it look alive. The Tunirad line strays a bit away from what I'd normally consider an object mon, as theres still a lot of animalistic elements in it, I still think its very creative and well thought out! (As with all your designs lol)

Personally, object Pokémon tend to be the designs I'm more fond of. They really help cement the idea that the series is "Pocket Monsters" and also make the collection aspect feel a little less immoral. I guess I liked the idea of being a "Magical Object Collector" rather than a "Magical Creature Poacher", even if I'm still technically the latter...

Oh my god you did NOT just draw trollface spiritomb Aside from that absolute masterpiece of an image, object mons are super cool if done right, it’s just that the Pokémon company has been very hit-or-miss with the designs, period, lately (IMO) Some of the cooler designs are object mons: bronzong, Gholdengo (it’s a good design, Fight me), and the Aegislash line are all great examples of this (especially Aegislash. Don’t lie, Aegislash is cool and you know it)

Object mons are great because it allows for much more creativity, even when it’s simply a ghost possessing something. Not only that, the ones that we already have are great as well. One object mon that’s dear to my soul is Chandelure, which is one of the reasons why I like object mons so much! A lot of people seem to forget that Pokémon aren’t just supposed to be animals, but fictional monsters that have unique traits that define what they are!
  • This is a cool concept. The 2nd stage also looks like a manta ray. I really like how this line changes so drastically yet still feels related, feels on par with the Squirtle line in that aspect.

Object mon tend to be my favourite kind of mons. It's possible to mess them up, but it isn't that diferent from making boring non-object mon (like Krabby or Pidgey). I also find they tend to be significantly more inspired than non-object mon or al least I can read them better. Trubbish is one of my favourite designs, after all.

i've noticed in newer gens gamefreak has taken the same approach as yours, as in, taking an object and giving it animalistic features (or viceversa). barraskewda is a torpedo, farigiraf is a telescope, turtonator is a landmine, etc. i feel like the constant objectmon backlash from the middle gens made them take this approach but at the same time its not like they stopped making "true" objectmons, which like yeah fair those will and should always be a thing. dunno where i'm going with this comment but i think its a very interesting topic and i'm wondering what their approach will be with the current design trend receiving backlash (humanoid looking mons)

My favorite headcanon about most object Pokémon is that humans modelled their tools and technology off of existing Pokémon. People see a lampent or chandelure giving off light while hanging about a tree? Why not create a fancy light source that you can hang in your own home? Wow, that bronzong over there sure is making a lot of noise trying to scoop up those berries, maybe we can use a similar design to make loud noises for communication! Of course, it doesn’t work for all object pokemon like banette or polteageist, but it’s a lot of fun to think about.
  • @KStarPR
I don't have any qualms with object mons, but I absolutely love your approach. It makes them much more interesting than "just an object" or "just an animal."
  • @Gmanrocky
Tuniduct is genuinely one of my favorite fictional creatures now, not only do i love the concept and inspiration, it perfectly falls in the middle of cute and cool, which make it perfectly appealing to me. I want a plushy of him that i can swing around and hit people with
  • Object mon are one of my absolute favorite genres of Pokemon, with Chandelure, Revavroom, and Aegislash being just some of my favorite Pokemon, always like to see them get some more love

Personally, I'm fine with object mons. Some can feel lazy at times (Voltorb and Electrode for example as despite being the first, having limited sprite area or whatever and also being some of the first mimics to not just be a chest, they really are jud St balls with faces), but then you get things like the Litwick line and the Beldum line. Object mons that are almost always seen as badass. Also, I do have to ask sometimes "what else were they gonna be?" for example, Vanilluxe. When I hear people complaining about it, I just think to myself "what else was the ice cream Pokemon going to be? A wooly mammoth because ICE age?". The original version of this paragraph was much more aggressive in tone so I chilled it down and shortened it btw. If you don't like them, that's perfectly fine, I doubt everyone is gonna start loving Garbodour after this comment, but please don't use "it's just (blank)" as an excuse for why a Pokemon is bad, because you could literally point at any Pokemon and say it's just blank. Tinkaton is just Hammer Kirby, Girantina is just Satan, Charizard is just a dragon, Eevee is just a generic mammal, Meowth is just a cat, etc.
