Best thing of the show is, Graham never interrupt guests.

Michael Caine and his stories. Name-dropping legends like their pennies.
  • @RealAzK
Jack desperately trying to get a joke in for 3 minutes straight while crumbling under the weight of legends.

Graham Norton on his own is better than every host in the US

"Marlene Dietrich told me that on Liza Minelli's birthday party." Man, imagine to be even able to SAY THAT. This man is living acting history. 🤯

Beyond the fact that Graham Norton is a consummate host, the prime reason his show is so successful is the couch of camaraderie. Whereas American TV talk shows feature guests for 5.4 minutes with a host, Graham goes for the spontaneity created with multiple guests. It's like a lively cocktail party with an appreciative audience.

The fact that he met Dietrich at all is amazing. He has stories to tell...

He actually didn't blink when he was showing "the trick"...I went back to check. What a master of the art
  • I agree with everyone here saying Graham never interrupts and that's why he's such a good host compared to American talk shows. But I'll go even deeper, another reason is because he finds guests with similar energy levels or vibes and puts them all on a couch together. There are no arms of chairs acting as barriers between people, that is important, you suddenly feel closer to the people next to you. Not just two guests like you'd see in America either, he often has 4-5 guests onstage at once. This gives the feeling of a small party. With so many people onstage at once, Graham cleverly blends into the background as guests bounce stories off one another. It really works and I love this format. I wish we had this show in America. I watch as many clips as I can find here.

You can tell Jack Whitehall was sort of nervous. Bless is soul haha.
  • Telling "I was at a birthday party for Liza Minnelli, and Marlene Dietrich...." They are on another level.... There are no one on theirs league now... And sadly they're not going to live forever

Feel the energy of the room when Michael Caine is telling his story. We’re all waiting for the next word like kids on Christmas for presents. Graham is also a master at feeling the tempo bc every American tv host would’ve interrupted and ruined the moment. He let the story play out like a director for a scene. Absolutely brilliant

I thought they're going to do something silly and call it a master technique. Did NOT expect them to be so... master-classy.
