Chasing Big Sea Trout, On The Fly!!

Published 2024-06-10
Last weekend I embarked on another fly fishing trip for sea trout, with North Westerly gusts of up to 30mph battering the West Coast of Scotland I managed to find a small windbreaker which proved extremely successful! This is possibly another Personal Best Sea Trout caught on the 7 Weight fly set up. Absolutely over the moon! Hopefully you guys enjoy the upload.

Nice fish, all the years that I have fished for ST, I've never had the opportunity to target them in salt

Nice fish well done!! Wee tip bin that net ( and beef up your fluorocarbon to 15lb ) 1 you won't get broke off and 2 you will get them in that wee bit quicker giving them less chance of coming off ) or you'll live to regret it!! Remember Sea Trout " ain't line shy " ..

Excellent and congratulations, thanks for sharing, lovely sea trout! There is a reason fly reels have a drag system usually. You are either going to lose a finger or a fish in your efforts to control the fish. Respectfully suggest you either palm the bottom rim of the reel or use the drag settings. Great stuff and thanks
  • That’s a great video mate, thanks for sharing and a new subscriber here. I thought you were targeting bass to start

Nice catch, wee tip either tighten your drag or palm the reel from the bottom so you don’t catch thumb on handle, might be all it took to lose that magnificent fish. Nice to release to well done
