  • Fun fact about that Mega Man costume bit in 11. His armor was always meant to change depending on his Ability since the very start. It's just that they had to settle on only having his color pallet changing due to console limitations.
  • @Phryj
The Mega Man X games' weapons would be extra annoying to try and rank, because you'd also have to consider the charged up modes.
  • The jewel satellite had to be satire man it obliterates small enemies in one hit and can block projectiles unlike the other shields from previous games sure some did block projectiles but would vanish in a single hit unlike jewel satellite
  • @OPP03
The Charge kick from Mega Man 5 did receive a major buff in Mega Man Maker. Now you can kick in the air, which stalls your vertical momentum, and you gain super armor, which makes it much more practical.
  • @espurrseyes42
    >"Jewel Satellite is bad." >Shows footage of JS acting like a traditional shield weapon minus having no hit limit, allowing you to just plow through everything.

The comment section sums up why mega man is so cool. The disagreeing indicates that there is so much going on with weapons in these games that it comes down to playstyle and preference. For me personally I think the shields are great. I like to spam them in tricky platforming sections and that way I dont really have to worry about enemies. Even the leaf shield in mm2 was useful in a few sections I thought. Mainly when riding the automatic platforms and the ladder section where they keep dropping eggs and releasing little birds. Plus the projectile is quite powerful. Great video. It's fun to hear other people's thoughts about the weapons.
  • Important to consider about the Mega Man 5 weapons: Napalm Bomb and Water Wave are a rare instance of entirely redundant special weapons. They BOTH function as the "Ground Traveling" archetype seen elsewhere with Bubble Lead, Search Snake, Flame Wheel, Ice Wave, Plug Ball, and Wheel Cutter. However, both being in the same game makes at least one of them effectively useless outside of boss weaknesses. It just so happens that the useless one is Water Wave. Napalm Bomb does more damage Napalm Bomb uses less ammo You can have 3 Napalm Bombs onscreen at a time compared to Water Wave's 1 You can fire Napalm Bomb in the air, Water Wave can only be fired on the ground The only things Water Wave has going for it is that it can absorb enemy projectiles (I've never found any use for this) and it has three segments, so it can potentially defeat three small enemies in one burst, a property I've only found useful against the mets that split into smaller mets in Stone Man's stage. Otherwise, its just a direct downgrade to Napalm Bomb.

They remedied some of the problems with the Mega Man 1 weapons in Mega Man Powered Up. Hyper Bomb explodes on contact with enemies, and there are more blocks to pick up with Super Arm throughout the levels. Guts Man is a playable character in that game, and since his only weapon is Super Arm, they gave him the ability to spawn blocks. They should've just done the same for Mega Man honestly.

Tornado Hold? I mean, you're entitled not to like it, but damn, I remember it being one the most useful not just in the game, but in the entire series. It can be used as a makeshift Rush Coil, and is multi-hit (albiet, that 2nd one requires some aiming. It can also kill those annoying floor things in Astro Man's stage, and makes navigating the maze part a LOT easier, due to the aforementioned jump boosting.

I disagree with skull barrier being the worst in 4. I used it last night and it helped me progress through the levels without getting hit.
  • Honestly, Jewel Shield is by far the best shield weapon in the whole series and although you get an incredible arsenal in Mega Man 9, it's an incredibly useful weapon as it kills minor enemies without disappearing so you can wear it for the better part of a level. You can farm for screws with it, you can turn it on and re-spawn enemies to refill all your weapons. The biggest problem is it's too good and should have been nerfed.
  • @mknights2354
It was fun to hear your commentary on the worst weapons; though, I strangely found some of your "worst weapons" among the best. I might be in the minority, but I find Jewel Satellite really useful. You can walk through a lot of levels with the thing on (Concrete Man and Galaxy Man's opening segments come to mind). I use Danger Wrap way more than springs, slash, or wheel too. Leaf Shield is also not terrible if you use it offensively and not as a shield. Honestly probably does a lot more than Atomic Fire. Top Spin is also useful in some segments.

Interesting, Woodman weapon is one the most useful ones to farm extra lives in MegaMan 2, so in my opinion this weapon is far from being the worst of the game.
  • That power stone footage was actively triggering. That weapon is like the opposite of the oddly satisfying.
  • @Vampocrat
Really, I think Jewel Satellite is awesome, because you can walk through most weak enemies like their puffs of smoke. Also, going to be honest, I like Mega Man 8, mainly because I have a nostalgic attachment to it.
  • @ShursGarden
Before the list even starts, time to give my opinions! 1: Hyper Bomb, no question. Takes too long to blow up. 2: Easily Leaf Shield, not being able to move tears it. 3: Hello Spark Shock 4: Skull Barrier is too weak. 5: Water Wave. 6: Honestly I use all the weapons in 6, but if I had to pick one... I'd probably say Plant Barrier. 7: Freeze Cracker 8: Once again, I use all the weapons. I guess I'd say Flame Sword just because it's too weak for its short reach. &B: I don't care for Ice Wall. 9: HELLO CONCRETE SHOT 10: Thunder Wool, no question 11: Another one I use all the weapons for. If I had to pick, I guess I'd pick Chain Blast. Now for reactions! 1: Same thought process here. 2: Air Man isn't difficult, the heck? 3: Top Spin one shots almost every enemy it can damage, it's perfectly fine. Yeah there's the bug where it drains the energy, but that got fixed in Wily Wars. Spark Shock is even worse because you can't do damage to enemies and you can't pause while an enemy is frozen. The bug isn't random, either, it's if you take damage and you're in the hurtbox of the enemy while in your stun state. 4: Rain Flush is a screen clearing weapon, basing its strength on the Robot Master makes no sense, you aren't gonna 1 shot a RM in a post MM2 game. 5: It sounds like you just hate Screen Clear weapons, which confuses me as they're the strongest weapons you have. Also you're just objectively wrong on all of the weapons weaknesses. Napalm Bomb is weak, sure, but the bouncing works because a lot of the grounded enemies move around, and they can be spammed. Star Crash deletes projectiles and can be thrown, you're just bad at using Gyro Attack and Power Stone, and Charge Kick makes you completely invulnerable during the slide. 6: Agreed tbh 7: The Game Boy games started the 2 sets of 4. Also, Danger Wrap? Really? You realize that you can change its trajectory by moving, not moving, or holding up, right? Or that you can just lay down the mine by holding down while firing, right? 8: Tornado Hold shreds through enemies, and tbh I use it a lot. It's nowhere near as bad as Flame Sword &B: Honestly fair, I just don't like how slow Ice Wall is half the time. 9: Jewel Satellite doesn't despawn on contact with enemies, reflects projectiles, and can be thrown, it is Not the worst weapon in 9. 10: Yyyyyep. 11: I can't really agree on this one, if only because Power Gear Acid Barrier deletes enemies, and the normal variant absorbs projectiles.
  • Considering Jewel Satellite is a shield styled weapon that can actually be useful, I can't consider that to be MM9's worst weapon. I would go with Plug Ball being the worst instead.
  • @RagingRowen
You forgot to mention Top Spin's bug where it will suddenly drain power super fast, which is usually noticeable when using it against Shadow Man.
  • Tornado Hold is probably one of my favorites from MM8 tbh. I like weapons that have extra utility as a movement option, Tornado Hold acts as a full-on replacement for Rush Coil in a lot areas, really fun to just put down and use, gotta hate the disrespect you give to it.
  • @EdKolis
In Megaman Maker, Skull Barrier is made useful by making you immune to spikes while the shield is up, which is pretty creative. Also it then makes all enemies and projectiles into one hit kills while you're standing on spikes, since losing the shield causes the spikes to affect you once again...
