I recently left the British Army, and come from a military family. By the time I left, I’d honestly rather fight against the government than for them. The country I would have gladly given my life for barely exists any more. And the politicians continue to treat us with utter contempt.

This is phenomenal, two brilliant, well educated, articulate Americans, that I would I be proud to work side by side with. Even being a 70 yr. old successful “blue collar guy” , knowing there’s still people like these left in this country gives me a glimmer of hope!

Mike Rowe and Victor Davis Hanson was not on my 2024 bingo card but was an immensely happy surprise non the less. God bless you both, you guys are legends.

Fun fact for you Mike... I served in the Ranger Regiment, my father served in Korea, my grandfather served in world war II... And on and on it goes through the civil war war of 1812 revolutionary war even back into England where we served in the British army... My son just graduated from Tulsa welding school and I'll be damned if he's going to put a uniform on... America's going to have to find a different family to go and fight their wars in the future... I don't know who's going to protect the silicon valley families when the next war happens but it isn't going to be mine...

This was uplifting. My 47 year old son who has a Bachelor's degree in Pre-law and Sociology from UCR, went back to community college to learn H-Vac skills, and now has a $100,000 a year job as a dehumidication technician for a firm and travels, all expenses paid, all over the country.

Mike Rowe is so articulate and carries a deep vocabulary which shows that ‘blue collar’ folks aren’t all yahoos. In fact, more tradespeople than not are well educated and articulate.

This conversation needs to be shared in our colleges. We no longer hear these types of conversations passing on WISDOM!

Fantastic conversation! As a 66 yr old who spent the first 40 years of life in Fresno, I'm proud to call VDH a former neighbor. Such a brilliantly smart, wise and rational man. I now reside in a firmly red state where common sense prevails ... I could never live in CA again, which is highly sad as I truly love that state. And yes, I worry about the ramifications of all that's happening right now, right alongside him.

My father was raised Quaker in Maine. Exceptional parents Full of the American dream. My grandfather lied about his age at 15 and went to WW1 in the Navy.
