So the cost of bringing Japan to be equal with most of the more advanced nations was a war that they couldn't win. But in the long run,the technology that was needed came because of surrender. Interesting study when you use hindsight to understand how Japan is quite equal with many countries and yet they are mainly peaceful. Their air force and naval is equal to several countries. What else do they have that is equal?
