One AI you missed were the automatons from 00. Sure they weren't connected to any mobile suits, but man were they deadly.

As a kid, that Sandrock scene made me appreciate the Sandrock for selflessly sacrificing itself to let Quatre escape, also showing that unlike the other AC Gundams, only Quatre and Sandrock had a mutual connection to each other. And it hit more since I saw Wing before the Iron Giant.

Crossbone Gundam had the Bio-Brains which are robot clones of the Jupiter Empire's president Crux Dogatie along with one unit based on the late Amuro Ray, meanwhile Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise had Alus, an A.I. created by an extinct human-like alien civilization of the planet Eldora who is pissed that his masters were replaced by furries who now became Eldora's new sapient species who were originally the planet's animals/fauna going through evolution and Alus wants to exterminate them because he hates furries? lol.

A Haro with an advanced super AI based on an ace pilot with superhuman reaction speed and spatial awareness strapped to a cockpit equipped with a Zero System and the scariest and most versatile funnel-type weapon available for attack and defense available. How scary would that be? Okay then how about if the mobile suit looks like a windmill?

I'm positive. This guy has acquired abilities of the Dark Gundam WITH THE HELP OF KYOJI!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Iron Blooded Orphan G game, there's a scene with another MA (Harael). At first, it focus its attack on Hajiroboshi, but then we have a glorious flashback from Harael's POV showing Hajiroboshi in its original form (Marchosias) beat a crap out of 2 Harael at once. The intersting part is that Harael seems to display fear upon recognized Marchosias (the sensor on its wire arm turns off after the flashback) which doesn't make sense (but incredibly cool). Since Vistario and co only fight Harael's wire arms (plus Pluma), I guess what's going on is that after recognized Marchosias and access the old memory, it just give up to preserve the main body (which is still trapped out of sight).

Would innovades be classified as ai? Seeing ais controlling flesh suits to learn to be human through resets sounds like a learning ai. They can switch bodies through equipments or veda like just transfering data.
  • @QuintusAntonious
Here's my head canon for why learning computers didn't catch on: The Learning Computer was one of several competing systems (for example, the EXAM) the Earth Federation was putting their focus into as an equivalent to Zeon's research into Newtypes. The idea was that the computer could help gravity-bound pilots fight in space where they were disadvantaged against the spacenoids. But once Newtypes emerged, it became obvious that these systems were not as good as the raw intuitive abilities of a Newtype and so after the war when Zeon and the Federation's top scientists merged, research moved towards 1) development of technology to enhance or unleash Newtype potential like the psycommu and eventually psycho frame, and 2) cyber Newtypes. Some side research, of course, continued into it, but it never got the focus of Newtype-oriented stuff.

Those mobile dolls are definitely some of the most terrifying weapons ever made. You could wipe out a whole army of them and nothing would change they would have more. Then they can destroy you. Imagine the 00 ending where all the kamakaze units are all just mobile dolls? The world would basically end so quickly with that power. Though that scene was already scary showing how disgusting the human lives would be with kamakaze tactics Best one is definitely ain. Goes from ain to ai and beats both the protagonist and antagonist of the series with ease. Joke btw.
  • @digitaleva
What about the Bugs from Gundam F91? They were, admittedly, very basic, but I'd count them as AI weapons.
  • @twelfthknight
There are some small things shown in the original MSG that were smoothed over after Sunrise returned to the Universal Century for Zeta and beyond. One of them was a Lost in Space-esque robot that could be seen working as a child caretaker in Jaburo's school/daycare. Which, if you think about it, when HARO is as sophisticated as it is - for a toy - then surely more complicated AI-driven robots existing for other societal functions would be pretty normal. However, when we get to Zeta, life in the UC is much more styled directly on 80's Japan and the technology got a more gritty aesthetic that precludes the existence of Asimov-ish robots.
  • @DeamonChocobo
I believe you missed the Automatons from the Second Season of 00, the small anti-personnel War Crime Drones used by the A-laws. Also, while I'm not sure about the specifics of the Crossbone series, would the Bio-Brins be considered AI? I know the ones inside the Divinidad were closer to straight up clones, but apparently the the one inside the Amakusa was created from the data stolen from Amuro's OYW Core Fighter which would suggest its an advancement of the RX-78's Learning Computer.

Military and Ai never seem to go well in fiction. Great video
  • @Atalas5
well, now I wonder where something like D.O.M.E and the Gundam Bits fall in the Gundam X universe.
  • @mrezaslebew6360
Red Rider from Mobile suit Gundam Agressor also had A.I it actually goes from Computer command to Lite version ALICE and its kinda funny that the Main Character, Chase Skullguard get annoyed by the A.I
  • @brettreese8986
The NT-D is probably an AI too. It does essentially use the pilot as a processor while it hunts down Newtypes.
  • @BigWired
Ohhhh, okay, that really clears things up with the original RS-78-2! See, for years, I thought it was Amuro controlling the Gundam via a remote on his suit in the final battle with Char, and not the Learning Computer taking control. Pretty damn impressive too that it had learned enough to have Amuro’s skills to the point of shooting down Char’s mobile head.
