On this trip we will travel together on the Cologne Rhine-Main high-speed line, which goes from Cologne on the Rhine to the Main metropolis of Frankfurt. The high-speed line connects the two metropolises in no time at all. It is a 180-kilometer-long German high-speed railway line for long-distance passenger traffic and runs from Cologne via Siegburg, Montabaur, Limburg and Frankfurt Airport to Frankfurt am Main. The Breckenheim-Wiesbaden railway line connects Wiesbaden and Cologne/Bonn Airport can be reached via the Cologne airport loop.

The line between Siegburg and Frankfurt Airport, which can be traveled at 300 km/h, connects the two largest German metropolitan regions, Rhine-Ruhr and Frankfurt/Rhine-Main, with a total of around 15 million inhabitants. It shortens the travel time on numerous national and international routes by around an hour compared to the left bank of the Rhine. The shortest scheduled travel times between Cologne Central Station and Frankfurt Airport in the 2022 timetable year are 50 minutes, and to Frankfurt Central Station 64 minutes.

The numerous artificial structures on the route are likely to be particularly interesting. A large number of tunnels and bridge structures make it so unique. And of course not least the large gradients of around 40 per thousand.

An ICE 3 neo MS - BR 408 will be used during this journey, which is used for cross-border traffic between Germany and Belgium and the Netherlands.

The stations on the route will be: Cologne Messe/Deutz, Montabaur, Limburg Süd and Frankfurt am Main Airport long-distance station.

    Vielen Dank für dieses tolle Video und dafür, dass ich auf dem Führerstand mitfahren durfte. Bei der Ausfahrt in Köln und über die Hohenzollernbrücke ging es zunächst gemächlich. Aber spätestens ab Bonn, als die Masten der Oberleitung in immer kürzeren Abständen zu sehen waren wurde mir klar, dass wir jetzt sehr schnell unterwegs sind. Ihr macht als Eisenbahner jeden Tag einen tollen Job.

    Eine sehr schöne Fahrt, mag diese Schnellfahrstrecken,wirkt auf mich sehr entspannend, manchmal schon ein bisschen zu entspannend, aber kann ich ja öfters gucken

    Ich kann mir nicht helfen, aber das Bahnhofsgebäude des Frankfurter Flughafens gefällt mir architektonisch schon sehr. Hat durch die Einzigartigkeit zudem einen extrem hohen Wiedererkennungswert. Ein sehr schönes Video von dir, Think Rail. Daumen hoch und ein Abo von mir ist dir damit sicher. 🙂
