The effort to 'turn this country into a theocratic state' is being mainstreamed by the GOP

Christian Nationalism is based on the myth that America was founded as a Christian nation. It puts Christianity at the center of American life, and aims to install believers into all areas of public life including, and perhaps especially, the government. Last year, a survey by the Public Religion Research Institute found that 40% of Americans believe that our laws should be based on Christian values. “White Evangelicals especially thought that they were the ones who were able to bring God into this nation,” says UPenn’s Chair of Religious Studies Anthea Butler. “So when you hear talk from people like [Speaker] Mike Johnson … about America as a Christian nation, what they're saying to you is that they want white men to be part of that leadership in this Christian nation.”

There is NO King James Version of The US Constitution!
  • The whole reason our forefathers started this Nation was to get away from people with this mindset.
  • They watched The Handmaid's Tale and thought, "Now, that's what America should look like!" Then, they wrote Project 2025.

We always knew there were theocrats in the US, but we never expected they would ever have this much influence. There is nothing more terrifying than theocracy
  • @Blakblooded
It's not that conservatives hate Islamic theocracies in principle. They're just upset Islam got to it first.
  • @ophirdog
America is already sick with religion.
  • I always assumed SEPARATION of CHURCH & STATE was a given. Made me proud of USA. No more
  • I am a white male straight Christian man. I don't believe that this is what Jesus wants. Jesus believed in peace and love, not animosity. Hate speech and hurting others for bigotry is not what Jesus wants. There are range of issues they are spouting that are not Christian values.
  • There has never been a godly theocracy. They have persecuted those deemed heretics with the most inhumane cruelty.

The United States is a self-described secular state and is often considered to be constitutionally secular. The U.S. Constitution states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

A theocratic state led by Donald Trump, who god sent, as all know. A life dedicated to crime, exploitation and litigation. What a role model!

I'm absolutely terrified of these red hats and their wyt rage. The only way out of this is to vote blue no matter who.
  • Trump doesn't even go to church. It's all for show. Vote Blue.
  • Godliness does not include love of others. Power over others does not permit love.
  • Frank Zappa saw clearly what was going to happen to the USA in our days, when he said in 1986: “The biggest threat to America today is not communism, it’s moving America toward a fascist theocracy". He explained that further by adding: "When you have a government that prefers a certain moral code derived from a certain religion and that moral code turns into legislation to suit one certain religious point of view, and if that code happens to be very very right wing". Project 2025 is the playbook for a white Christian nationalist fascist theocracy.
  • American Taliban, Y'allquida It's no coincidence Trump and Pompeo negotiated directly with the Taliban and released 5,000 fighters
  • Look 👀 it’s Texas Lt. governor Patrick who said grandma should be willing to sacrifice herself to save the economy. Yesss he said it. Don’t listen to their words, watch their actions
  • I need to take a break from media this is making me go crazy. Am i in a dream? Will i wake up in reality in the morning? I feel like we are going over a cliff in slow motion.
