Man I just realized that shepherd wanted the gulag to cave in because he was trying to kill his own task force. I know it’s obvious he wants to kill them but this is the first point in the game where it’s really apparent. At 1:04:55 a jet narrowly misses them with a missile and almost crashes into their helicopter. Once soap tells shepherd to get the navy to cease fire shepherd simply says “I’ll try to buy you some time”. the gulag never stopped getting bombarded, it’s likely shepherd didnt tell them to cease fire instead continue bombing the gulag with his task force inside. The fact they made it out here made him take matters into his own hands at the end of “loose ends” when he kills ghost and roach. What a conniving bastard

In the remastered cinematic for Shepherd’s betrayal, Roach reached for Shepherd’s arm as he was taking the DSM. He was still fighting till the very end, and that shatters my heart even harder.

Crazy how the New MW3 couldn’t give you those chill/goosebump moments like you get here. The EMP missile explosion..the shock of You & Ghost getting completely shocked from the backstab of shepherd… shame on COD for how they handled 2023’s MW3
