I have a little story to tell. So, one evening in 1999, my Dad and I shared a moment that would connect us forever. When my Dad was younger, he was fascinated with synth composers and was an especially big fan of 'Équinoxe' by Jean-Michel Jarre. On this evening in 1999, he and I sat on my parents bed and listened to both sides of the Rocky IV OST casette tape that he had owned since he was younger, and I was especially fascinated with 'Training Montage'. As I got older we would enjoy watching the Rocky movies in chronological order and would both be excited when we got to the fourth movie. It was because of this that we had invested in a keyboard so that he could teach me how to play. Neither of us could (and still cannot) read sheet music, so we both learned by ear. For 'Training Montage' however, it seemed impossibly out of reach and like nobody could ever play such an awesome track. I recently shared your video with my Dad, Ralf, and both he and I were not only stunned but were transported back to that evening in 1999 listening to that casette tape. We were both capitvated with our mouths wide open, goosebumps all over. I'm pretty sure my Dad even had wet eyes. Thank you so much for sharing this video with the world, because in just 4 minutes and 21 seconds, you were able to reconnect my Dad and I through one simple cover of Vince DiCola's 'Training Montage'. It was like 1999 all over again.
  • No matter how many times I listen to this song, I still get goosebumps. Every. Single. Time. It was on my walkman, on my discman, on my Ipod and now on my Mobile phone. Every second of it is a masterpiece of technique, emotion and awesomeness. Impossible to describe how much it moves me, it will die with me. Thanks to both, Mr. Vince DiCola and Ralf Kappmeier for this amazing cover!
  • Thumbs up if you didn't want it to end! I think this piece of music is the theme to my life, I love it so much. Such a joyously great performance by Ralf. Thank you.
  • Tengo 44 años nunca vi una representacional tan fantástica. Lógicamente soy fanático de las sagas de Rocky . Es una canción "sanadora" e "inspiradora" que te lleva a viajar en el tiempo. Gracias !!

Damn.....this is good. 7 years late to the party, but this is a real pick me up ! Well played sir 👍👏

Thanks, for all the nice comments, but let's not forget, it is the amazing Vince Dicola who brought us this amazing piece of music, that like no other i can think of, shows us the beauty of playing modern instruments. If there is any suggestion for another cover bring it on. I personally love the stuff Tommy Mars is playing on some FZ Albums (Yo Mama), but that is hard to recreate, because the technology they used (Emu/Electrocomp) is not easy to emulate, and it does'nt quiet work as a 'show off' keyboard video. If there is some talented guitar guy around, maybe we can do colab on Child's Anthem/Toto

This beautiful overdub shows how great and timeless Vince DiCola's mastery is.

That's just amazing how accurate this is !!! And even when it's not it's because you allow yourself to realize some solos (at the end) which don't bring the whole cover down. Congratulations. Really. It's the best DiCola cover so far.
  • My god,i can't stop listening to this cover, for me it's the best keyboard cover for rocky IV training montage, absolutely eargasm. Keep it up sir!!!

That improvised synth solo is awesome. First I thought nooo I want to hear the mean tune but the more I listen to it the more I dig it. Good job!
