I’ve watched a ton of your TH400 build videos and you have made a once impossible task of rebuilding a transmission seem completely possible to me.
  • Every time I come back and watch a video, I pick up a little something I missed the first go around... Thanks again!

Best assembly th400 videos on YT..Thanks for sharing your knowledge bud..
  • @shawnbins203
That was a good call on your part to film this procedure. It doesn’t need to be done every time (as you know) That’s one of the best things your style lends to these videos. Thanks again. Great content this week

Thanks Shawn for doing these videos, I've always been apprehensive to go inside, but you are giving me confidence to give it a try.

Thanks Again! Pin came right out like you said and I drove the rear bushing in another .030". Friday I got everything in up to the case saver. Cheers!

Good job! Great explanation. I noticed the New England Dragway picture in the background. Been there many times.

What tolerance do you recommend for the reaction carrier float/thrust?
  • @strata99
I purchased the ATSG book and they reference a rear reaction drum spacer, should all th 400 transmission have them. When I took mine apart I do not have one installed. It seems as the low roller clutch assy sits on that ledge.
  • @MHolt3573
Did you make that gear train install tool
  • @inscoredbz
Hi Shawn. I heard you talk about the sonnax shims for the lower planetary set. Have you ever had a need to use them? I have never seen or heard of anyone using them. I'm not saying they're not needed, but have you ever seen or felt the need?
  • I have the chance to by a core 4l80e for a 100 bucks. Not sure if it’s the early type or late type. He said it needs rebuilt. Is it worth it to buy it? I’m building a turbo ls 6.0. I’m not sure what’s wrong with it.
