The red enemies are Gravelord phantoms. They appear in NG+ or higher when your world is cursed by a Gravelord servant. They are much stronger than normal enemies.

Music during the Ornstein and Smough fight is Halflight Spear of the Church theme, because the original theme gets claimed.

mushroom could canonically have defeated the four lords and linked the fire were it not for a lack of motivation

There is a reason why the abyss stayed in Oolacile, those mushrooms live right outside it and they do not take kindly to intruders.

Can you imagine the horror in Quelaag's eyes seeing the mushroom slowly walking towards her through lava with a dead absent stare?

Red Mushroom's Amazing Feats: - One-shot Pinwheel. (Epic) - Linked the First Flame / Started the Age of Dark. - Conceded the victory to the chunkier (Smough) out of pure honour. - Killed 4 Kings by killing 3. - Let the Chosen Undead to be the Princess' saviour by expertly forfeiting against Artorias and Manus.

I love how the Mushroom's aggro range is low, so he just stands there menacingly, waiting for the weakling to walk closer to him
  • @psyglav
I love how nito starts the fight with a scream like he's afraid of the mushroom man coming for him

It’s really interesting that they gave this one enemy so many optional boss themes. I wonder what led to this decision?

Never have I been as worried for the hero in any story as when Red Mushroom fought Quelaag

10:04 i love how sif just looks back at artorias’ grave like “can you believe this shit? a mushroom?”

I love how the mushroom doesnt need to break Seath's crystal. Just walks up and punches him in the cloaca til he dies.

absolutely love the visual of the iron golem and mushroom walking towards eachother on both sides of the bridge
  • Absolutely hysterical how he just stands in the abyss like it's nobody's business and actually has to WAIT for the kings to spawn lol
  • I love the implication that after the mushroom defeats the Four Kings and slowly makes it's way over to Kaathe, it then becomes a Darkwraith

If you listen closely, you can hear gwyn's ribs breaking as the mushroom attacks. 13:33

This is a great demonstration of how DS1's bosses relied so much on poise-breaking, knockbacks, and zone denial to go with their otherwise very slow animations, where needing to dodge and guard, or getting hit would take you down for a few seconds, allows the tempo of the fights to not seem like the boss is constantly vulnerable. When you drop in a tank that can eat some of the most heavy knock-back moves in the game without even flinching and can just walk up and punch without hardly any interruption, it's almost comical just how vulnerable most other-wise difficult bosses in this game really are lol
  • The centipede demon kept desperately trying to prevent the mushroom from killing itself in the lava 😔 So sad. Glad to see there are still some genuinely good people left in the world.
  • The One-Punch-Shroom throws consecutive normal punches! It was pretty effective.

Quelaag's watching this man walk through lava, push him back into said lava and is just screaming "WHAT THE CHAOS ARE YOU MADE OF!?!" As he just says "Mycelium." Before decking her to death.

I didn't realize that seeing Red Mushroom blitz through Capra Demon was something I needed, but now I don't know how I managed without it. Thank you!
