I've played Call of Cthulhu (pen n paper) for many years, one night we were too tired to play and looked up random lovecraftian movies, saw this, expected a terrible movie. It was one of the best movies ever and it felt like our own adventures were put perfectly to film.

The craziest part is that the thirsty mermaid comes back into the story and is just like "hey bro, im your sister!" as if that makes everything alright. Gotta add incest into the whole fish ppl storyline. I guess she was the FMC the whole time cuz they swim off with each other in the end and live happily after.

Ah, i remember this movie. It was my introduction into HP Lovecraft. In spite of that, i still ended up being a fan of the author's work. Honestly, it's not the worst thing to be tied to the name of ol' Howard Philips. That dishonor goes to his cat.

love the new make-over, Papa... a little.. fishy... but good <3 Also as i know, Inboca is a good pun for name the village... cause in spanish and italian "inboca" means "in bocca", that translated is "in his mouth".... so..."Innsmouth"!

I watched this a while back after reading Lovecraft’s short story Dagon and the Shadow over Innsmouth and thought it actually nailed the vibe perfectly, aside from a few extremely goofy visual effects. I thought nobody knew about this!

I like how, for whatever reason, there are multiple instances of Shadow Over Innsmouth being adapted and then called by an unrelated Lovecraft story. Also gotta love how they call it "Imboca" like a Banjo Kazooie MumboJumbo voice clip.

I love that Paul is wearing a Miskatonic sweatshirt. Pretty sure it’s a reference to Miskatonic University in Pickman’s Model, another one of Lovecraft’s stories.

I never understood why they didn’t just call this movie by the name of the actual short story it’s based on. The ACTUAL Dagon short story would have made an awesome film adaptation. It is really chilling and atmospheric.
