  • When is the ECB going to give up on The Hundred ? It's a homegrown cricket vanity project that no other country has adopted or shown any interest in. The time it takes up in the schedule could be much better spent !
  • @MrDunkycraig
Gould comes across as a dodgy car salesman in this interview. The 16.4 is hated and by adding this into the summer it devalues county cricket. How many free tickets being handed out now? Why arent the ecb doing anything to get state school kids the same opportunities as sons of ex players and private schools?
  • "The Hundred" could be entertainment for teenagers, not for counties fans.

Atherton needs to understand India has always helped lesser boards unlike England when they were in power 40 years ago.

If the hundred was successful, the BCCI would have been all over it two years ago. The focus of the ECB must be in using the blast as an introduction for youngsters into cricket, then developing the red ball county game whilst protecting the integrity of the 5 day test match. More effort should have gone into what we already have.
  • It's simple scrap the hundred. It is a waste of time and the game is losing a lot of money. Richard Gould fails to see that it has not brought in a new audience. True cricket fans want to see it gone.
  • how are leagues like ilt20,MLC surviving when there is no domestic demand.?I understand IPL,BBL, SA20 and the Hundred have domestic audiences but the leagues in UAE,USA,Canada have no domestic audience. how are these leagues surviving? Is it a slow death spiral for all the leagues with no domestic demand?
  • So he admits the ECB lied to everyone to create this abomination so they could sell off English cricket. Despicable. The ECB treat cricket fans with contempt. One day they'll not take it anymore, and the ECB will have ruined their central product to chase bonuses and fleeting cash. The worst run sport in Britain against some strong competitors.
  • To be honest it's unfair to BCCI that they are getting only 40 percent of share, they should get more.
  • Richard Gould’s claim that India playing five tests in Australia this coming Australian summer is a meaningless boast. It does not mean that there is more test cricket - it just means that there is one team touring rather than two. He comes across in the interview as a used car salesman. Why can countries not share revenues 50/50 for home and away series? That is, the overall revenue generated by England from the West Indies tour and then the next tour by England to the West Indies is combined and split down the middle. You cannot play with yourself! Lastly, the Hundred is the most idiotic idea in the last century of cricket.

The hundred is not the envy of others larger cricket nations. It's about growing the womens game, but I stand by my first views which is why not invest more in the blast to attract the best overseas players. Sacrificing August for the one hundred is a step too far. This sell off by ECB will be a nice earner for the board and will no doubt result in higher ticket prices.
  • Lancs v Yorks, Essex v Kent, Somerset vs Glos. Clearly not tribal enough for these clowns. 18 months ago this grinning non entity was knifing the Hundred every which way. So what changed......? Hmm let me think...
  • @chinmey_0147
Poor interview , no thoughts on 16.4, no thoughts on saving and expanding the game specially test cricket Could only imagine these are the type of yes man bcci enjoys in meetings that could allow it single control of the game
  • It’s basically a vehicle for women’s cricket, it has no place in the men’s game. If it was a good idea other countries would do it. The grounds are half full and I’d love to know how many are in after 10 overs of the women’s game? We are wasting money on promoting women’s cricket, if women don’t want to watch it why should you expect men to? I hope the hundred dies.
  • Finally- ECB head slaps Atherton’s leading question on ICC allocation. Which Board in history of cricket has let go of 50% of its share other than BCCI? Plus tours everywhere. It’s a positive role for both red and whiteball
  • Useless ICC and Big 3 ruined Test Match Cricket actually by scrapping the Test Match Fund
