I’d pay to just watch my team, but NFL doesn’t want me to do that. So I stream it for free

Gabe Newell, co-founder of Valve Corporation, said: “The easiest way to stop piracy is not by putting antipiracy technology to work. It’s by giving those people a service that’s better than what they’re receiving from the pirates.”

There’s been several times where my team was “blacked out on ticket” because my game was on a local channel. But then the local channel decides to switch to another game. Ticket doesn’t even understand this enough to put your game back on. You pay all that money to watch your team, then it can be blacked out from all sources. It’s ridiculous.

It’s a private business yeah? Stop extorting public money for stadiums, etc. They shouldn’t get it both ways. Unfortunately there will always be a market that will screw over an existing location to steal a team.

Give me affordable a la carte and I'll stop pirating games
  • Cable is so dead. My parents have cable. They’re 75. We all grew up watching games for free, with ads, on networks. Now we have to pay AND watch ads. I watch WAY less football than I used to. I watch WAY less sports in general. I’m not paying for a package, paying for a channel, or paying for a streaming service AND watching your stupid commercials.

With Sunday Ticket being on YouTube now, it would be so easy to create 32 channels, one for each team, and create individual subscription plans for each one with bundles available if somebody wants more than one teams games. Its not that freaking hard.

Game ticket prices are ridiculous too
  • @jonathan45732
How about instead of charging $300 a year just to watch most NFL games we charge a lot less? That $300 doesn’t even get you every game of the season…… NFL Sunday ticket better get sued
  • @ScottAnders62
The NFL has been fleecing it's customer base for a long, long time. This is welcome news.
  • @ReginaldForman
Go ahead charge whatever you want, ill just watch it for free like everyone else i know. Bootleg gang!
  • Looks like I'll be watching games with my parrot on my shoulder and a bottle of rum!
  • @45searay
Watching TNF on Prime is a horrible experience
  • @scooterico1
Pat's assessment of Goodell is so off.. Appreciate Florio correcting and providing a true assessment.

Apple wanted to include it in Apple TV+ with no additional costs. NFL said no and took YT $$ because they wanted to keep the status quo and charge absurd money.

NFL LOVES to highlight how they are a private business and that they're acting in accordance with the protections and liberties provided to them as such until it's time to build a new stadium. I know some are going to disagree but IMO if you rely heavily on taxpayer money then the tax payers should have some say in the business's practices.

After price gouging over the years my go to is watching NFL highlights. It cuts the 💩 and saves my time.
  • Charges us for these services then makes taxpayers pay for their stadiums. That's some bs
