West Wings Merlin RC Glider - Bungee Launches Using a 30m Hi-start - 3rd August 2021

Published 2021-08-04
I sorted out a different hi-start made up of 7.5m 1/8" FIA rubber and 22.5m fishing line (0.15mm). This worked really well and the Merlin would kite up right over the pegging point on the ground.

Delightful, at first I didn't realise you had radio in it......I thought it had a sprung rudder instead....🤔😏🇬🇧

Wow getting some great height with the Hi start!! And some nice gliding action😄👍
  • @RcAircraft
Now you have sorted the high start out just need some nice sunny weather.
  • Nice one! I’d probably end up hanging on one of those trees around with all of my models there.
  • Would be nice to see a mini camera mounted on your glider to see the view from on board 👍
  • I've made my own mini highstart buy linking a bag of rubber bands together then adding 50 to 100' of string. Works great for launching flying wings. Costs about $10. Nice video btw. Used a "L" hook on the plane and a key ring on the highstart. You can also use those flat "picture" hanging hooks and a piece of straping tape to tape the hook on so you don't have to put a hole.

Allways nice to see and hear you flying your planes Carl. I will have to make a decent hi start. What radio are you using in the Merlin? Rx, servos and battery? I can only fly from a small field so the Merlin sounds good. Just made a Carl Dowdy " Bug" so looking forwards to test flying tomorrow. Peter
  • it's cool for these explanations. I hope not to stretch the tensioner too much and cut the glider in two parts🤣👍❤
  • @Thalarctos.
Bonjour, comment le réglez vous pour qu'il revienne à vos pieds ?
  • Carl how do I make a hi start bungee for say Caprice free flight model
  • @Eatherbreather
I thought this was free flight to begin with, thinking "this guy's a mad man with all those trees there!" 😂🤣
