It’s the arrangement..for me the cello really hits hard..the strings, piano all of it and of course Angelina’s special special voice..apparently this performance is the same as the walking video but arranged differently..I really enjoyed emotional journey through the song..🙏

As she always does, Angelina sprinkled her angel dust on a cover and took ownership of it. The music and vocal arrangements are brilliant choices. We Angelina fans know that Angelina only needs limited accompaniment for the song to be interpreted the way the lyrics require for the song to convey the proper emotional element that the song writers intended it to sound like.

Great reaction, Gumz 🙂 And you are DEFINITELY not the only one to feel the way you do. Most people agree that THIS version brings way more emotion then the MV does. ONE big difference is that here there are no distractions; nothing going on in the background or anything like that, which in turn makes it easier to lock in in her DELIVERY and facial expressions. And another big difference is obviously the arrangement. It is a relatively well known fact that piano and strings (maybe particularly cello and violin) have the ability to evoke feelings. It may have something to do with the frequency or something like that. And lastly, I think the location where it was recorded also plays a big difference. A church will make most things seem and feel more solemn. Combine all these factors and you have a performance that hits your ears, heart and soul differently. Have a great weekend, my friend! A cover only in the sense that what Beyoncé made was a cover of the song written by BC Jean and Toby Gad, originally performed by Jean in 2008. Beyoncé's cover was that same year. In this video the pianist is the same Toby Gad .. the Piano Diaries are a celebration of his hit songs. He invited Angelina to England with him to perform .. this is the sixth version I have heard. I am not sure if it is really a cover when a singer is standing next to the composer as they jam to create a different version of the song. To me, this version is a vocal masterpiece packed with emotion, while the Music Video sounded more like a commercially produced pop song with more instruments & a faster tempo. I much prefer this "Piano Diaries" version, it's just gorgeous, as is she.

I believe the vocal track in both versions is the same. The reason why the "feel" is so different is because the backing instrumentation is so different. This version is quite stripped down; the "walking" video gives us a finger-snapping beat, which makes our body want to move. It doesn't pull us in emotionally like this performance does. I think the highlighting of the cello creates a sombre, mournful mood, which sets the table for Angelina's vocals to leave us stunned.
