At 11:30pm on October 11, 1975, a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television – and culture – forever. Directed by Jason Reitman and written by Gil Kenan & Reitman, Saturday Night is based on the true story of what happened behind the scenes in the 90 minutes leading up to the first broadcast of Saturday Night Live. The Chevy Chase actor is spot on
-
Crazy how they made it looked like it was filmed with old cameras and the color grading is spot on for something from that era.
-
Everybody’s talking about the Chevy actor but whoever that is playing Belushi could be his grandson, insane resemblance.
-
Dylan O'Brien as Dan Aykroyd is BRILLIANT casting.
-
Jason Reitman wasn’t kidding. This really is a, in his words, “thriller comedy” and time itself is the villain.
-
That one line from the chevy chase actor has me convinced this is going to be good 😂
-
I'm seated. The theater employees are scared and asking me to leave because "the film isn't out yet" but I'm simply too seated.
-
Finn Wolfhard as Kenneth the page is AMAZING casting
-
Having Jim Henson mention what Michael O’ Donoughe did to a Big Bird toy because he (O’ Donoughe) hated writing for the SNL Muppets is the kind of detail that makes me want to see this movie! Edit: This is the most likes I’ve ever gotten on a YouTube comment, thanks everybody!
-
How jealous is EVERY SNL cast member that someone get to do a Lorne impression for a whole movie??
-
Gotham’s Riddler as Chevy Chase is PERFECTION
-
The actor portraying Garret Morris appears more times in this trailer than the real Garret Morris did during the first season of SNL 😁
-
Cousin Greg playing Andy Kaufman and Jim Henson. That's something.
-
Can I point out how perfect Cory Michael Smith looks as a young Chevy Chase? It's uncanny.
-
Every day im reminded that Chevy chase was just playing himself in everything
-
Not a lot of people remember that Jim Henson was temporarily part of SNL. Nice little detail there. :)
-
can't believe an SNL film looks so inspired by after hours but that gets me so hyped 😭

I remember watching the first show as a Freshman in 1975 in my college dorm TV lounge... They had to call it "Saturday Night" because Howard Cosell already had "Saturday Night Live" for his ABC variety show. They picked up "Saturday Night Live" after that show got cancelled and off the air. Note that the cold open close line has never changed. It's STILL, "LIVE, from New York, it's SATURDAY NIGHT!"
-
I didn't realize until now how young they all were back then, Lorne included. They really were a bunch of kids that invented something from scratch and changed history.

I kinda can’t get over the Chevy Chase casting. “Oh, is this an ensemble?” line tells you everything you need to know about him at that time.
