Death of a Game: Titanfall 1 & 2

I just had an amazing discussion with a prominent TF2 member, who was able to calmy and rationally argue their perspective, and listen to mine on Discord chat. I have a lot of respect for you Ricky, thanks for stopping by and being able to chat. You can raise issues with my videos and my analysis, but it has to be framed in the context of MY series and WHY I make it in the first place. I realize when you get brigaded elsewhere, many of those aren't viewers so they miss that...but start by reading the description lads! Literally dead was never the only thing I based my series on, and it's not the only definition of dead anyway. I wasn't just sad or negative in this video either, I still hope and wish for more Titanfall, even if it means mixed into something else (another game). Something I also could have acknowledged (read the room), is that Titanfall 2 had a opposite trajectory where it did better pop wise almost later, than it did at launch (which is very unique). As well that the Xbox servers for TF1 never got fucked up by the hackers, so they were really happy about their experience there. Also you can absolutely play both Titanfall's on official servers atm, however TF1 is basically dead population wise (except Xbox, which is hard to access as I state in the video). And Titanfall 2 on official, is actually populated enough to get some matches (depending on your region), but don't expect anything besides Attrition (as I also stated).

It pains me so much to see such a perfect game end up in this series

I wonder why they thought releasing tf2 in the middle of two shooter giants was a good idea

Please please please do your research before making one of these. Titanfall 2 servers are fully online with little to no issues, and a daily average of 2000, 1500, and 800 players across Steam, Xbox, and PS, respectively. People saying "well the game is dead and unplayable" because they don't realize it's been fixed are a large part of the reason the game is declining. Because people only ever see clickbait "oh Titanfall is dead" videos like this, and rarely that the game is still up and running.

For those wondering titanfall 2 servers where fixed and have been for a while and it dosnt take long to get into a game

"Nearly non-functional multiplayer" It takes me 5-10 minutes to get me into a match, and that is nearly non-functional? Are you trying to make people not buy the game?

I think it's important to note that the launch date for Titanfall 2 wasn't just stuck really close to BF1. It was also flanked on the other side by Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare, a game that shared a lot more similarities in design and appearance to TF2 than BF1 ever did. Respawn/EA doing almost zero marketing for the game and then shoving it out between the 2 biggest shooters of the year guaranteed that TF2 wasn't going to sell. No amount of better gameplay was going to save it at that point. edit: The game isn't at all dead btw. very active playerbase on Titanfall 2 to this day, and the servers have been fixed and working fine for a while now. Don't let this guy's inability to admit he's wrong sway you; TF|2 doesn't belong on this channel by his own definition.

for everyone that doesnt know, respawn fixed the ddos and the matchmaking in september last year, now is perfectly playable with less than 1 minute of matchmaking in the most populated mode, also the game recieves a lot juicy sales throughout the year, prices going from 6 dollars at the highest to 3 dollars at lowest, so join the frontier and become a pilot yourself

The servers are still fuctioning though, and you’re calling the game dead when it still has a playerbase… This video is just discouraging for anybody who wants to pick it up. Edit: Also just because you have 400k subs doesn’t give you the right to act arrogant and confrontational to people calling you out… that’s where the majority of criticism is coming from. You not being able to take other people’s opinions is why others are mad.

The games are fully playable, this guy is spreading misinformation.

I played Titanfall 2 with my son last night. I never have to wait to get into a match. Titanfall 2 is the best console shooter there is and it's alive and well.

It was a game where you could play as a stim fueled spiderman with guns and giant mecha. They traded that for heroes and a slow long game mode.

Both games are still playable, there are enough people on all TF2 platforms. Servers are fixed and there are no hackers except for one guy who has a little schizophrenic episode every now and again.

Yeah, no. Both games, especially the second are playable. The support from the devs may have ended, but the game is definitely still alive.

Still play Titanfall 2 damn near every day, I don’t know how if I could actually handle its servers shutting down.

The apex card left during the last missions feels so weird to look at now. Went from feeling excitement at what that could refer to and where it could lead the story. Now its replaced with feeling sad as it’s what killed the chance for titan fall 3

If Titanfall 1 had launched with a campaign on the same level of 2 then I think it would have had a significantly bigger impact. Also EA exists.

The death of series like Titanfall & Killzone still makes me sad to this day. I miss having gritty sci-fi shooters that you could take the world seriously while having fun gameplay.
