Gradients of addiction to technology | Shashwat Sarawagi | TEDxYouth@SISmumbai

Published 2024-04-18
Diving into an introspective journey of the speaker’s accumulating “addiction” to AI, devices, media, online, network, connectivity, and more and more. The talk contemplates loss of personal identity and authenticity of knowledge or human connection. The speaker, however, finds himself just as confused about the suggestiveness and weight of the word: addiction; particularly, its connotation over its denotation. At the same time, it questions the perpetrator: the speaker or the society. With the inescapable perpetuation of “tech” and its many forms, it asks a question of choice and questions the notion of keeping up through tech upgradation. Why don’t we, then, make ourselves a little more unnecessary instead of making technology’s necessary “addiction" a necessity?
