"Don't Bother Me" was always one of my favorites. I don't know why it's treated like a throw away song.
  • I have never heard it said before, but think that George's harmony vocals added a sound and texture that was uniquely "Beatles". He was always important and without George their four part perfection that they often reached would not been so damn good.
  • Being in a band is difficult. Egos rub each other the wrong way often. People take sides. Brian Jones from the Rolling Stones knows all about that.

Harrison's songs on Abbey Road, Something and Here Comes The Sun are on a par with the best of Lennon - McCartney. However, genius is quantity as well as quality. John and Paul were songwriting factories of great music together and individually. George couldn't compete. He's on record as saying he threw away thirty songs because he didn't think they were good enough.
  • The age question was in their early teenage years when these age gaps mattered. It was only gradually the George has an interest in writing songs. Prior to that, John and Paul would write a song for George to sing and they’d also feature a Ringo song. John and Paul Probably did have the edge but the group was arranged of them more or less as equals. George eventually wanted a bigger slice of the songwriting action when they’d started out as just doing Lennon McCaertney songs. Times changed
  • As early as 1966 George brought in "Isn't It A Pity" for consideration at a recording session. This tune is of a high quality but got dismissed pretty much out of hand. Why ? This is just one example, but there are others. Is a tune like this "largely forgettable" ? Not IMO.
  • Lennon and McCartney were prolific and stunning in their songwriting. Harrison - love him - contributed largely forgettable songs until the last couple albums, when Something and Here Comes the Sun blew us all away. It must have been an awkward dance for all three.

Harrison was less than a year younger than McCartney.

Paul was constantly in the studio with George Martin and spent most of his efforts trying to get them in there too. We are always ready to call them geniuses but rarely credit Martin.

Harrison hat grundsätzlich nie die Klasse von Paul und John als Komponist erreicht.

Greed. Paul and John wanted all of the songwriting royalties. When they stopped touring the only money came from writing
  • John was the best RHYTHM GUITARRISTS and George the best solo lead One Paul has been my fav Beatle for years but now my fav Is John and he 2 Is geo. Bcs i love Georges works❤

The best thing about the song, Free As a Bird is George's slide guitar solo.

They just grew apart and got different music preferences in my opinion. George is a late bloomer in songwriting . His fascination with Indian culture opened his eyes to a different perspective as well. Glad he was able to express his own music.
  • I think that George was disappointed with their rejection Isn't it a pity - a song that still are covering and inspired, for example, Coldplay to write their massive hit "Scientist". Next push was from Macca bossing him on camera. Next push - cold reception of While my guitar - the most popular song from White album. Also Lennon didn't like his "I me mine" -just for no reason. Lennon and McCartney preferred to put Revolution 9 rather than "Beware of darkness" on album. All these cases convicted George that he is not taken seriously enough by their "elder brothers".

If George would have just practiced the guitar and learn scales and learn to use them it would have gave him great power in the band BUT. as he himself said " And the interview is on You Tube" look it up - He did like to practice the guitar he just got into writing songs and strumming chords and in the early days just tried to play Carl Perkins and Chuck Berry licks in all of their original songs, it worked for ac while but once the Beatles started to write Wongs like Michelle and songs with chords other then Major and MINOR CHORDS he could not play lead on them he was not good enough, George Martin wrote out guitars solo's and told George Harrison to play the notes that way, George would write a song like Taxman and not even try to work out the guitar solo at home before coming in the studio, then when George recorded the song and tried to just do the solo on the spot he was not good enough to do it, Paul picks up the guitar and did the solo in three takes, that must have killed George inside. But you would think at that point he would do like Hendrix and Clapton and Beck and Leslie West and many many other guitar players did, Practice Blues scales and the Pentatonic scale and get Good at your craft, remember you are in the most famous rock band in the world!! So what does he do, he takes Sitar lessons. lol. lol. lol. Please do not blame Paul or John. or even G.Martin for you having to bring in Clapton on While My Guitar Gently Weeps. not until the 7th day of January 1969 does George take lessons from Eric Clapton on how to use the blues scale and Pentatonic scales". Which are Rock scales used by all the rockers". does George start to get pretty good on guitar- Now. how do I know, it is in Eric Clapton's book he wrote in 2002, Read it and see, there is a whole 5 pages of Eric telling George to stop blaming Paul and John and get good on your guitar, play live with me and Bonnie and Delany live and practice at least 4 hours a day with the scales. Now you see and hear on the solo's on the Let It Be album and Abbey Road album George Harrison playing like he never did before, bluesy and more rocking , I mean ok there not the best solo's ever but what other album does he play solo's like Octopuses Garden and Let It Be and I Dig a Pony? Now he is not just searching for notes he hears in his head on the guitar but putting his fingers where he knows the notes must be within the scale of the key to the songs. I met the Beatles engineer me and my friends in my band two times, he told us a lot about George and other things I never rad in books or in interviews , George for what ever reason was a little lazy when it came to practicing his guitar and relied on his little riffs from the 60's too much to get him by.He got too much into the songwriting and not the guitar- He could have done both. Having said that, I love George Harrison". too many great song to be my favorite but if I had to pick one it would be " Isn't a Pity". god, that one always gets me !!!
