The BEST Way to Remove Air From your Brake Lines
By Brian Gillespie

Have you ever had a squishy or spongy brake pedal? Especially after doing maintenance on or even upgrading your brake system? Sure, you could have not tightened something all the way or maybe one of the new parts is defective. But, what if it's not? Many times the culprit is air. When we open the brake system the very air that sustains us and gives us life can put us in danger. The air can enter the system at various points, but getting the air out can be an endless loop requiring two people. AND it could still leave air in the lines. Enter Phoenix Systems V-5 Reverse Brake Bleeder. This feeds fluid and only fluid from your brake caliper back up into the reservoir pushing out all the air. Even better, you don't need a second person to pump the brakes. This reverse bleeder also works for hydraulic clutches as well.

The Phoenix Systems (2104-B) V-5 Reverse Brake Bleeder is available here: www.amazon.com/dp/B00GRV800S?linkCode=ssc&tag=onam…

I'm so thankful that Brian is a "little" older and wrinkled than me, now I'll never be too old to play with my Hondas! 🐒 Thanks, Brian...don't stop

Can’t be used on abs car. The best method is a long line and a drain can. Connect the line to the bleeder and hang/drape the line higher than the brake bleeder. Be sure to have at least 1 foot of line vertical. Crack the bleeder and slowly pump the pedal. The brake fluid will back into the caliper when releasing the pedal because it’s in the line. For final bleeding crack the bleeder such a small amount that the pedal has a lot of resistance to push yet still will slowly sink to the floor. This method works 100 percent unless you have a module that requires module activation to bleed brakes.

This is just what I needed. I have been having issues with my gd3 fit's brakes forever. I really want to swap out the drums for discs but cant afford it. pretty sure my master cylinder is boned too. i'll get this tool first and try that. thanks for the vids always so cool and helpful!!!

Never recommend this method for any modern brake system with an ABS or brake actuated traction control system. The systems are designed to move air to the caliper to be bled out. Reverse bleeding can force air into the ABS module that you might never get out reverse bleeding. Use a positive pressure bleeder like a Motive to make it a one man job.

I love my reverse bleeder..... I work on my car by myself so I had to buy alot of tools which allow me to work on my own.

This felt more like a Amazon ad than a tech video. Not seeing the solution to the problem verified means we watched a brake bleeding video ad with speculation at the end. Slightly disappointing

Will this work for civics with ABS? Specifically an 05 ep3. Thanks for the content!
  • @AdamNZ
I'm just wondering why you don't flush new brake fluid through the other way? Like from the BMC to the calliper?
