  • Historians may point out, Theodore Roosevelt a two term president and war hero, was shot in the chest in 1912, as he campained for the Bull Moose party. Then went on to give a 84 minute long speech after the attempt. As things turned out he still lost to Woodrow Wilson in 1912'

Ideas are peaceful , and history is 😢
  • Don't forget Huey Long author of social security bill & founder of original America 1st movement.
  • No actual facts of aftermath. It really feeds the crazy-fire when you cant follow the goals of an interview. How Bernstein looks you in the eye is beyond me, when your quality standards keep falling every decade.

This guys a historian? What’s he talking about? JFK’s assassination provided momentum for passing the Civil Rights Act in ‘64 but that coming together moment was short lived. As the 60s went on, racist rhetoric continued, and many black people became impatient with racial progress, which spawned the black power movement. The anti-war protests intensified. You had police brutality issues, poverty issues, and the race riots in Watts which scared white people. Then RFK and MLK were killed in ‘68, more riots, and Nixon ran for president calling for law and order. It looked like the country was falling apart. Any coming together right now will be just as fleeting as it was back then because there’s no solution yet to the root cause issues. This historian said this is an opportunity for us to figure out how we have strayed from the Founding Father’s intentions to be united, but they intended this country to primarily serve the interests of white men who owned land, and everyone else was to have a subservient role. We’re in the current state we’re in because other citizens are demanding more rights and privileges, and there’s a backlash to those demands. We’re experiencing a conflict that has existed from the very beginning and has never been solved.
