I love this story. It’s the Chinese version of William Wallace or Wilhelm Tell. It gets even better when Sifu Bruce Lee comes in. Man love both Sifu. I know where Kung-Fu stands in martial world but I grew up with this. Watching these movies is like a home coming. Every move you can place a name to it.

U guys should react to the scene where Master IP Man takes on Mike Tyson. Absolutely iconic !

It was set in the Japanese occupation of China. The fights were for food because it was scarce. The Japanese killed his friend in one of the fights. When the friend failed to return, Ip Man went to find out why. This is the result. He took the food back to the family of the deceased because it cost them so much.

You should have watched it from like 5 minutes before the fight so you had an idea what happened and what were in the bags. To be honest you should have watched the whole movie so you can appreciate it and be able to react to it.

Basically, the story is set in the Japanese occupation of China. Since food was scarce, the kung-fu masters went and joined tournaments held by the Japanese army. They'd get a bag of rice for each karateka that they'd beat. A few scenes before that, one of Ip Man's friends was fighting against the General, but got beaten to death by him. And right before this one scene, after beating 1 karateka, one of the kung-fu masters went and asked to fight 3 more karatekas. He lost and went to grab the bag of rice that he earned from defeating one opponent, but got shot by the Colonel (not even the General approved of that), which enraged Ip Man and the rest is what you just saw

DONNIE YEN IS THE ULTIMATE BEST IP MAN AND FITS THE ROLE PERFECTLY, I THINK THE REAL MASTER YIP WOULD BE HONORED TO HAVE MR. YEN PLAYING HIM; I HAVENT SEEN ANYONE ELSE BE ABLE TO EXECUTE THAT ROLE LIKE DONNIE.

I want to say that you should let them look at some of the episodes before “the ten fight”, so that it won't appear that Ip Man is fierce and merciless when he fights ten guys! In the previous episode, the Japanese captured the Chinese as slaves, and then used a bag of rice as a reward to lead them out to fight with their own soldiers, and then beat the Chinese to death and humiliated them.
