  • I've had worsening symptoms starting a year ago but am now going strengthening and stretching excercises an hour long 3 times a week and am beginning to feel a relief...its been the worst pain I've had..next to childbirth!
  • @shepatown
Thanks! Scary stuff. I'm slowly learning about my severe lumbar stenosis, but have wedging of vertebrae as well making symptoms complicated.

This video is quite interesting and I have learnt from it. I have been suffering from Sciatica for 10 years, although it is not getting better. But after watching the video I believe that if I put all I have learnt it'll be okay. Thanks for sharing.

Very clear explanations. Thank Will. One question please, I have the area around my right ankle and inner shin side totally that has been numb for nearly two weeks. I went to the GP on day one of the numbness, and ever since he has kept saying me "that's probably just a sciatica, do some exercices and call me back in two weeks ". Seems to be much badder that what he thinks it is, right?

I've had siatica down the sides of my legs since 2009

Hi Will, I injured my back 32 days ago and, although the severe pain was gone 3 weeks ago, the numbness and weakness in my leg has not improved (right down to the outside base of the foot, and not able to raise onto tiptoe, unless standing on both legs - so perhaps less than 50% strength in outer calf). I suggested an MRI to the Bupa GP at 1.5 weeks in, but she told me to just continue with the physio, which involved the Cobra stretches but was mainly acupuncture (which I couldn't see much benefit from). I'm now worried that I've left it long enough for there to be permanent nerve damage. Should I get an MRI ASAP? Thanks, Michael
  • I used to be an athlete, however I fell from a horse, now I've L5-S1 and L4-L5 disc bulge, very painful especially while sitting and traveling, over the years my right leg has thinned considerably 1.5 cm at calf level as compared to the left leg also shortened by 1 cm, I'm in constant pain...
  • @user-gm2pe6vy5u
Thanks so much for this. However, I have had two decompressions on my lower back can I do sit ups halfway/I also have scaitic pain Jean V
  • What about the situation where the pain was much and it affected one inability to eat as usual and it ultimately cause weight loss?
  • @stormaurora5536
Thank you so much. I have the first four signs and have asked my GP to refer me to an orthopedic doctor for diagnosis, he said he would only refer me to physio for assessment. I said physios can't diagnose me and he said they can. The pain and severe pins and needles in my legs is much worse when I lie down and I'm struggling to get any sleep. I have DDD of L4 and L5 which was diagnosed by MRI 4 years before the onset of the lumbar pain and bilateral sciatica. I am 60 years old and this is my second bout of pain and bilateral sciatica. The first was two years ago. I have no idea what is causing this. I wanted to ask if you could suggest how I can sleep with less pain? The pillow under my knees makes the pain much worse as does the pillow between my knees on my side. I'm stuck as to what to do. Thank you so much for your help.
