I always thought that Zima's search was for purpose and satisfaction in life, but despite already having both of those things it was "upgraded" and lost sight of the most fulfilling thing in life. Its subsequent return to a more basic form is its apotheosis scene, and it would be ironic if our attempt to create artificial intelligence ends in a similar way.

Very interesting video. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. 👍

Great break down. Wish more people could see the depth of this short animation, but hey, maybe it just isn't their truth lol

Excellent video! Profound truth in this animation, I can see a lot from the Buddhist and Posthumanist perspective. Ultimately I don't think the rise of AI will be like most people think, there won't be a revolt or nuclear destruction, just a new form of life, intelligent life, and I think that's what's scares people the most subconsciously that we will not be at the top of the chain that we and our intelligence are neither unique or special.

For me I saw this as the human being finding its meaning and purpose. Only when we understand the purpose of of ones self maybe then we find purpose. Because the ending quote, “I am going home” to me felt like a death. A death to ones self and accepted who he was. And maybe that’s what we need to die to self to find our meaning.

I've wondered about this a lot. If an AI can think faster than us why would it not reach enlightenment faster. How would that then affect the religious environment of the world? So interesting. Thank you.

A very nice video. I think the mistake Zima Blue makes is to go back to its basic form. Instead ... it could (maybe) devote its efforts towards gradually enhancing the (dynamic) homeostasis of sentient beings (organic or inorganic). And spread what it has learnt in the hope that sentient beings would become better at arriving at and maintaining their own (first) and collective (second) dynamic homeostasis ...
