For humans looking downward, the visual effects are greater. The cats and dogs see things at a much lower angle and don’t get the same effects.

They didn't seem to react differently than they would have for any new rug that suddenly appeared in their home. I don't think the optical illusion affected them at all.

At the beginning, you do have it faced so the camera can see the illusion, but you have the animals entering a door coming from the opposite direction so it's really not going to trick anyone that way.
