Published 2024-05-08
Hello! In this video I walk you through the process of starting your own homelab!

A homelab is a place where you are free to explore the world of computers in any way you see fit. Whether you want to explore computer networking, try out a new operating system you've never before, or build a complex network of interconnected systems. The power is in your hands, after this tutorial you will have the foundation of your homelab setup for these new adventures.

First we install Proxmox and the rest will be history.

Stay tuned for more homelab content!

I like that you have dust on your hardware. no sarcasm...I have dust on my hardware. makes you more relatable than those "fancy" channels

These are a great choice, I do a similar thing with the Dell Optiplex Micro's after the zombie apocalypse destroying the price of Raspberry Pi's I switched to these ex business machines, most will take a NVME and a 2.5" SSD and they have another M.2 port for a wifi card or even a Coral NPU, I'm running Proxmox and Truenas on mine, fantastic little machines, I have 5 stacked on the side like a blade server, bes of all these can be found for way under $100 USD fully ready to run.

Awesome. I need to get a stack of some minis and get rid of the old huge desktops in my lab too.

Great video! I also just started my 3 node cluster with HP ProDesk 600 G4 Mini 's 😀. If you don't plan to use your Wifi card (like i did) you can replace them with 2,5 Gbit adapters. With some 3D printed parts you can replace your second displayport connection with a 2,5 Gbit port.

Hello I like your video, but I give you a friendly advice: Clean the components / PC before filming. Personally, it doesn't bother me, but you will have people who will criticize this thing. Good luck with your YouTube channel.

The powerful units you have in cluster makes me jealous 😂 I’m trying to set up some Dell Wyse 5070 in a cluster and your units put them to shame lol
  • @kreeger2010
Excellent demonstration video definitely made the setup way less intimidating for a beginner to Proxmox. Looking forward to move.

Just make sure you don't fall for the 'crabs in a bucket' mentality from your peers.
