It's called the "Old Indian Trail" and it stretches for 55 miles. The original trail dates back to 600 BCE.

Here is a google map that we created from data we collected on the trip, for those interested in finding the markers: www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1NJhMSRMrrBQrl1wnNM…

I have lived and worked in Northern Michigan for over 20 years and drive by these markers all the time. I now know what they are thanks to you two!

I love this kind of stuff. Michigan history fascinates me. I worked in Traverse City for 17 years and have passed by that marker every day and never knew what it was for. Thank you so much for this. I continue to absolutely love your videos.
  • I have always loved my home state of Michigan, but thanks to you I'm really beginning to love its rich history! Thank you!!

We did the same thing, followed the markers, a number of years ago. We read an article in the Record Eagle about the trail. Great fun. Marker 15 was missing in the Manistee River and some others were knocked down and in disrepair. Some were hard to find or missing. After we did the trail a boy scout redid the markers, remaking the trail.

Always interesting! You help to further expand my enjoyment of Michigan history which started with my 4th grade teacher in 1961. Thanks for enriching my life!

You are nonpareil. You two are a great educational resource for anyone at all into non-textbook Michigan History. I hope you get as much pleasure making these vids as you give to your viewers, even those that don't take the time to like or comment as well as those that do. Joy, peace and love to you. Thanks for posting.
  • I live in Cadillac Michigan I see them all the time I'm glad to see someone else appreciate them

I’m from Cadillac ✋👈 and I’ve seen these markers. I just drove by that first one today!

I must have sped the distance between Cadillac and Traverse City a hundred times. For those who don’t know, it’s the last leg of a vacation or weekend run between “down-state” and TC heaven. So many times and yet I’ve never heard of these markers…maybe I need to slow down and ask more questions. Thanks Viking and Vikqueen!

Wow. Another My Kind Of Adventure! Grew up in the area and came across the TC area ones and for years thought they were old railway markers.
