  • Me, dragging a bleeding corpse across the hospital floor: “well, you see, it’s simple color theory”
  • @rustymustard7798
Did he just call my game low budget? Joke's on him, i have zero budget lol!
  • @skjoldgames
I was able to 2X my game rev! I went from $0 to $00! p.s. I'm just kidding Thomas, your content is actually really helpful to a lot of aspiring devs. The color theory stuff was superb. :)

“You will learn how to double your game’s revenue” HAHA I QUADRUPLED IT, I am at 0

the answer to the question about why sounds work together is to do with how the waves overlap - for example a note one octave above another note is just double the frequency so the turning points match up a lot

I love that you brought up Thomas was alone for how powerful abstract art can be. And Quake with it's epic soundtrack. I was used to great music coming from the Amiga, but Quake blew me away when I first tried it.

As someone currently going to uni for graphic design, it's incredible how many of the principles we learn and continue to learn apply to game design. Theorems and thought experiments which quite a few students considered worthless because "when or how would we even use this?" when in reality, with a bit of know-how, it could end up being the deciding factor. Fantastic video!

This is amazing, I'm a back-end developer who's been interested in game development and I've been looking around on YouTube for tips on how to make good-looking simple games and I just found the perfect channel
  • Freaking LOVE you Mr. Brush. These videos are so helpful and because of artists/developers like you, newbs like me can progress lightyears faster than the guys just out there wingin' it. Bookmarked that course, and I'm going to pick that up as soon as I finish a few other courses I'm in the middle of. HOLD ME TO IT!
  • @DawnosaurDev
Wow that was awesome! For a topic that's already been covered in depth by many in the past this was a great nuanced summary. Thanks a lot :D
  • This is why people who solo make banger games are so impressive. Because besides coding the thing, you also need to make banger sprites , banger sfx, banger scenes...
  • This was a fantastic video! I know you are a indie dev that has a lot of first hand knowledge of based on your experiences, but I didn't know you had so much knowledge of theory that could so easily apply to other games. If I ever decided that indie dev was for me I would definitely take your course.
