Challenging myself with the Fujifilm TX-1

In this video, I talk about my experience using the Fujifilm TX-1(Hasselblad XPan) film camera. I show some footage and photos I took while on a photowalk, and also share some tips on basic composition techniques like the rule-of-thirds.

Composing with the XPan can be difficult with its wide 65:24 aspect ratio. It took me a bit to get the hang of it, but I'll share some of the different ways I've been composing with it.

I think this camera is a gem and I don't regret buying one.

You are CRIMINALLY under-subbed my guy. I can't stop binging your videos - thank you for sharing your amazing work!
  • @alexbemanian
Great video and really nice photos. Love seeing the panoramic format
  • @simpleman7203
Oh wow, I was looking just to see samples from this interesting camera, but damn you covered rule of thirds so so perfectly! Everythingtraight to the point. Imma newbie although I obviously knew about the rule, but that examples were helpful, thank you! Would you be opposed to do more composition techniques basics in the future in this manner?
  • Hey Bon! What a great review! I've been wanting one of these cameras for ages and you're not helping the cause 💸 ahah I love your photos from across the street and when shot with this camera, they definitely look like frames from a movie! Well done!!

Your results are fantastic and I am so curious about the Wolfen NC 400, a film stock, which is absolutely unaffordable here in Japan. Also Orwo‘s shipping rates … out of this world. 🥶 So, I guess, I have to wait, until somebody is visiting me from Germany … hahaha … if it is still available then. 🙏🏻 Anyway, can’t wait for your video about it !!! 🖖🏻

That pano ratio is a double edge sword, I used to like the cinematic framing so much but overtime it feel so empty, spacious, so i sold the xpan for a h4x
  • The OG X-Pan(TX-1) ,what a camera. i miss the times when munfacturesr had the balls and money to take risks like this camera. 6:43 if I tilted the camera too much I sometimes just rotate the image and instead of cropping i let photoshop fill the missing parts of the image. ( in case you didn't tried it out yet).

Proper video! That's my grail camera :hand-pink-waving:'

Bon, firstly what a camera – I've been waiting for you to dedicate a whole episode to it, and you did it justice. Reaffirmed my love for the cinema ratio if you will and now I want this and a Leica M6 because of you and my wallet hates you 😂Secondly the production on this video is insane man! The animation, the photoshopped alternate cyclist position – just so inspired by your content now! Loved the shot at @9:53. Bravo my good man! Now for my questions. - Do labs just scan this stuff normally? Or what is your workflow like scanning this ration? - I noticed you said the rangefinder makes it tricky to know what's in the shot, but does it have frame lines at all

Ohhh. I too have just shot a roll of NC500 through my panoramic camera. I have way more faith than yours than mine though. My Fuji 6x9 was not particularly happy to be running 35 mm
  • @qizhang5042
Personally, I feel that the Panorama ratio is better with less-busy scenes. The other way is to turn the Xpan 90 degrees and take several parallel pics.

'Hard to use'? Something wrong with you. At least you didn't buy the wrapped TX-1 from Hasselblad for 2k premium over the original Fujifilm
