Kung Fu Hustle takes place in the slums of pre-revolutionary China, where the brutal Axe Gang rules through fear and intimidation. When they attempt to recruit a hapless pair of lowly residents, the arrival of kung fu legends like the Landlady and Landlord exposes the would-be initiates to a hidden world of martial arts masters and monster-like beings known as the Beast. As the Axe Gang's reign of terror escalates, these unlikely heroes must harness their newfound skills to protect their home and take on the villainous forces that threaten to destroy it. A wildly imaginative and over-the-top action comedy unfolds amidst gravity-defying fight sequences and eccentric characters.

Insane level of creativity and humor here. The whole time she was banging on the bell, I was reacting like, why the heck would someone be ringing a bell in the middle of a life or death fight? The minute she got the top off and picked it up and realized what was about to happen, I was just in awe. The fact they could write a prop like this into a fight scene and make it so much fun. Stephen Chow or whoever came up with this scene is a creative genius. You can watch the movie 10 times and never be bored.

I still wish they did a sequel. This was a gem for its time. Almost everyone I've ever shown this to loved it. Edit: got rid of the word underrated because people take things way too serious.

This was a REALLY really good movie.. even its comedic aspect literally gave me the best laugh of My life.. when he asked him "WHY DID YOU HIT ME" and he hit him again with the little itty bitty stick I fell out 😂😂😂😂

It's been more than a decade but still I watch this scene and still feels fresh. Their facial expression after each hit is so convincing that I totally can immerse myself to the fight without being reminded it's fake.
