Exactly the way my mother made them throughout my childhood. She always served them with homemade applesauce & sour cream….So good! πŸ˜‹

Very similar to how I make these. My main problem is that when I'm done cooking, there aren't any pancakes. I tend to eat them as fast as I cook them.
  • As a Polish kid I learned to make these from my Polish Grandmother when I was 6 years old! Love em!

Nice to see Santa cooking a typical Hanukkah treat!
  • my mom was from the old country Austria and she made the most delicious potato pancakes it was hard work rubbing all the pancakes on a great and squeezing out the liquid by the time she put it all together Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo she topped it with sour cream and sugar and that was a meal in itself thank you Santa Baby
  • Great job! The pancakes look delicious! Thank you for your fun tutorial video, what a wonderful teacher!

I have got to try this week. When I buy potatoes by the sack there are always leftovers that otherwise will go bad. Same for the onions. This way I could make the pancakes and freeze them for other meals. Thanks for the recipe, you are a great teacher. Love your humor.

These are the best. My mom did the same recipe by hand and always ended up with scraped knuckles. I did the same until I used my processor. Wonderful! I add some garlic and some baking powder (2tsp) My kids would eats these every chance they get but not too good on calories!

Thanks for speeding up the boring bits, so many cookery channels show them peeling and chopping every single vegetable, you dont...so I subscibed, well done !!!

I grew up in the '50s in what is now Korea Town in downtown Los Angeles. All flavors of Eastern Europe immigrants escaping communism there. These were a once a week staple when it came to making a dinner or whatever. Every combination of methods, but ended up with the same product. Ours ( Austro-Hungarian or now called Czechoslovakia) came with applesauce, sour cream and (for the fussy children) a brush of powdered sugar.
  • Been making these, for years. Recipe, like yours. Have a Polish background, & we always serve, warm, smothered in sour cream. Delish!
