During my 7 day water fast I was fortunate enough to talk to Doctor Jason Fung, a world-leading expert on intermittent fasting and low carb, especially for treating people with type 2 diabetes. It is cool to mention that we have a mutual YouTube creator friend that is Thomas DeLauer. Since I have already water fasted for one week in the past, I had several questions on how to improve my prolongs 7 day water fast. I am very grateful to Dr. Fung for taking the time out of his busy schedule to talk to me.

    I finished five days water fast last week (Nov. 29 - Dec. 3) and now is OMAD, I repeat five days fast one per month. My diabetic rate is now 4.1 AIC from 10 AIC and lost 50 lbs. after four months by fasting method according Doctor Fung advice. Truly thankful, Dr. Fung!!!!!!!

    When I listened to Dr. Fung for the first time I actually started crying. I saw light at the end of a decade-long, dark tunnel I'd been trapped in.. what he was saying made SO MUCH SENSE. As a child/ teen/YA: ate a ridiculous amount of steak and red meat, loved veggies if they were smothered in salt/ butter/ bacon fat, HATED bread (white bread always tasted chemical to me which my family used to tease me about because I always said it tasted like window cleaner when I meant it tasted like window cleaner smells they were like "how do you know what window cleaner tastes like?")and HATED oatmeal, skipped sooooo many meals to hang out with friends instead, weighed 115-130 lbs. During my first pregnancy, well-meaning advice from my doc and mom had me stop red meat, stop skipping meals, choke down oatmeal every day, and eat more fruit: immediately began struggling with weight (blamed on the baby at first) followed by years-long struggle with adult obesity leading to weight over 320lbs, PCOS, Diabetic (after that it's like a sin to miss a meal because blood sugar), fungal infections, cellulitis, neuropathy, Fatty Liver, multiple miscarriages and a late- term stillbirth. . . After discovering Dr. Fung's lectures 1 mere month ago: down 40 lbs and still going strong, feeling 10 times better than I ever did on my meds. fasting most week days, eating whatever I'm craving on Sunday: ie eggs, steak, cheese, salt, butter, and strategic veg. My mom's freaking out, my doctor is freaking out, idgaf. Moral of the story: listen to what your body is telling you it wants, ignore the bullshit (and processed/boxed junk). Be polite about telling well meaning family members to respect your personal decisions, but get their opinions out of your mind

    On my fifth day of water fasting with gym and cardio, I lost 5.3 kg. Day 1 and 2 and super-hungry craving for anything Day 3 and super sleepy and I don't want any food in my mouth anymore Day 4 and 5 got me a little energy back

    This Dr literally saved my aged dad's life.his AIC went from 9 to 4.5 and two years we are healthy and free of those expensive diabetic n HBP meds. My dad is 83 and does IF eating from 9am to 3pm bfast and late lunch everyday. Bless the Dr.
  • From my 4 day fast, the most difficult day was Day 2, but then each day gets easier... it's a bit weird and then when you're ready to eat... it's almost like you're nervous to eat.

    I just finished 21 day fast and feel just fine!! I broke my fast with a bone broth and tasted delicious after not eating any food itā€™s jus amazing to Feel That flavor in your mouth lol!! Fasting for lasting

    Dr Fung is correct, you need the energy stores for fasting. I did three separate 7-day fasts, with OMAD in-betweenā€”so in other words I took breaks in-between my long fasts. I started at 205 and eventually got to 175. I noticed that on the extended fasts the weight loss accelerated on days 4-7, probably because the body is in full ketosis. I could see 1.5 lbs come off per day. I donā€™t know the exact science behind it, but I definitely drank tons of water, herbal tea, lemon water, etc. I donā€™t do caffeinated drinks. I still struggle with OMAD, it is hard! But it really makes me think about eating healthier. Stay away from carbs and sugar. Salads w avocado, eggs, a little meat, no bread or pasta.
