Dub Techno with Atari ST, Virus TI, Octatrack, Analog Four & TR-8

Published 2024-08-04
10 years ago I released the Dub Techno track "Emilienstraße" as one of my first uploads to this channel. I collected all original files and did a remaster of the audio and video.

The track was completely sequenced on the Atari ST computer using the latest version of Emagic Creator. All sounds were from the Virus TI, Elektron Octatrack & Analog Four, and the Roland TR-8. Mixing was done on the Allen & Heath mixer with internal effects and a cheap delay pedal from Line6.

It all started with an Atari St for me too. So good memories. Chris Hülsbeck, Jeroen Tel, Jochen Hippel, David Whittaker, Barry Leitch, etc. Great music, sweet sharing.

Atari ST ❤ I had Cubase 3 on a 1040 ST expanded to 4MB with a 100MB HDD, it was rock solid! Man, these memories, thanks Martin!

Nostalgie pur 👌 1993 hatte ich Octamed auf dem amiga 500 und den techno turbo Sound 2 Sampler für Amiga, um von Kassetten zu samplen. achja 😊
  • Great track! I'm more than happy to see TR-8 in your setup. I've bought an used one recently and it's a great drum machine for those classic sounds. The fader per sound is so useful for playing live.

how cool! i also started with various atairs in the 80s, but with cubase. i had converted an atari mega st into a 19" case for traveling.

Nice. I started music recording with C-lab Notator / Atart STE (well, before that some 4 track tape recorders) + Wavestation - still have both. Always liked the pattern arrangement view in Notator - somehow more intuitive than the clip/loop arranger in Ableton (my current favorite) for me. I'd have another go with the Atari if I could find an adapter for LCD panels/hi-res B&W Atari display output.
