My 15th K'nex roller coaster, featuring a hubless ferris wheel lift.

Music: "Where Civilization Once Lay" by Jeremiah Pena, one of my favorite composers. Check out more of his music at www.jeremiahpena.com/

Clockwork was partly inspired by Round About at Freestyle Music Park. However, this one uses a hubless wheel, meaning that there's no axle in the center of the wheel. This let me weave the track through the center of the wheel, creating a very twisty and compact layout.

Construction took 4 weeks total. I automated the ride with a Lego Mindstorms NXT, just like all my other rides.

  • I could see this being a real ride easily. The name Clockwork is perfect. Give the coaster a gold/bronze and silver color scheme with steampunk theming. You could have effects of smoke or water sprays simulating steam being released. Make it like 150 feet tall with around 2000 to 2500 feet of track with 4 or so inversions. The compact nature of the Coaster could be perfect for an inside ride. Which would make the theming of the ride even more immersive.

The build. The music. The camera work. Yes, this is a definite 10/10 for me!
  • This is probably the most designed K’nex roller coaster I’ve ever seen.

So will it be a ferris wheel or roller coaster? Engineer: Yes
  • @neonjays
This is one of the most impressive things I've ever seen
  • @LiquidDreamz93
so why are you not designing roller coasters for parks?
  • Excellent work, I had the original rollercoaster when I was a kid. Me and my brother were both super excited on the way to the toy shop, one of my best memories.

I stopped k'nex years ago, I clicked on your video randomly, but that was totally worth it. You've been really imaginative on this coaster, the editing and music are awesome.  Thanks for sharing, and making me live a  2.20 min dream :D

When I was in my early teens, I bought 6 sets of this coaster, at $100 each, it got expensive. My cousin bought 2. We put our 8 combined sets together to make a 10x6x8 coaster with 9 inversions in my backyard. In the end, it was just a standard coaster though, nothing with the intricacies like this one has. I'm extremely impressed with the ideas you have created with this one.

Awesome work. I made k'nex roller coaster videos when I was a kid. 9 years ago! KnexCoasterDude was the name, but nothing I made (or anyone on YouTube making K'nex coasters at the time) was as cool as this! Great work. Awesome to see people still making coasters.
  • @GamesJames
U should find a way to get a camera on there for pov
  • @hellashes
I wish I was as smart as this guy to make stuff like this. K'nex roller coasters were my life as a kid, but I'd never be able to come up with designs this insane. Major props.

  • @Techtastisch

  • I’m impressed that you included a station as well as block brakes
  • Saving this for my 11 yr old stepdaughter to watch...she loves building & designing these!! This is truly awesome!!
