I appreciate this approach -- once youth is gone, it's gone. But looking modern, attractive, and confident is possible at any age. Thanks for your great work!
  • @Sed1676
I agree with you about wearing what we like, and for me, that means I can skip the trends that don't flatter me.

A good video. Over 70 really gets tricky to be of courage and stay modern, especially when most women seem to have settled for “stodgy.” Your looks were so current today, and I could tell you loved them. So important ! Not crazy about those grids!

Thank you so much, Kay, for all your thoughts encouraging us to stop trying to look younger. I agree heartily. I see so many 'older' women today trying far too hard to look like young. Sadly most of them end up looking a little foolish. Your blouse in the video from EM&ME is absolutely beautiful and so feminine!!! Even though the cost of that one item is probably close to the cost of my clothing budget for a whole year, that's okay. My biggest goal is to be feminine and modest and I'm very much at peace and content with where I am. I can still use that design to help me find something similar in my own budget. I think it's important to remember that all of us are a different places financially. While I might be a mom of 10 married to a mailman, someone else might be an empty nester married to a triple figure executive. In either case, I hope we can all love and be respectful to each other.

Thank you. I love that brown handbag! No barrel cut pants for me, but as you say, be yourself!
  • I was a teen in the 60s and remember the grace of Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn and Marlo Thomas in That Girl. Years later I gravitated to the style of Julia Sugarbaker on Designing Women. Now in my 70s I still care about fashion but I find myself drawn to those two decades, I simply update them with a more current twist. One thing I just can't resist is a beautiful silk flower corsage on the lapel of a well tailored jacket. :)

Thanks for the reminders, Kay. Modern makeup and hair is also very important. Many of us older women need help with eyebrow shape and definition, for example. All possible!

I like that you keep in the bloopers You demonstrate grace and effortlessly class

Kay, This was a wonderful video! I appreciate what you shared about clothing and what you shared about being a confident woman. Your faith clearly shines through what you do. 😊 What a blessing your channel is.
  • Nice style ideas, but pricey items especially when there are comparable US companies to support (with free shipping)!
  • Great ideas today! We need the “modern” reminder to be able to stay on track. Being over 50…. My eyes don’t do well with the quick grids and flips. I have always loved your calm and organized presentations 💕
  • @andreabeth
Wonderful tips!! I love the concept of embracing our age and being modern, not trying to be someone or something we aren’t. I am enjoying the resurgence of wide and barrel leg pants. Skinny jeans emphasize my wide shoulders and flat backside. The looser fit pants balance my proportions. I’ve gotten many more compliments on my outfits since I’ve been wearing those cuts.

I have really liked what I have seen from ME+EM but haven't ordered from them because it's out of my price range. I just try to re-create the looks I have seen with other quality brands that are more within my budget.
  • This popped up on my YouTube feed today, and while I agree, I have to say that I've never tried to look younger. Neither did my mother, who always looked beautiful, stylish, and vital, no matter what her age. I'm glad I was raised by a confident woman who never even suggested that it was important to look "young." I'm sorry that, per the reason for your post, too many women are still uncomfortable with being who they are and whatever age they are. If you're comfortable with who and what you are, you'll carry that with you no matter what you're wearing. Know your shape and your basic style and then vary it according to what's fresh to your eye. For me, I know better than to wear big trousers, which make me look like a cereal box with shoes. To each her own.
  • @valerieleung3639
I’m 70 and absolutely love the barrel pants. The Color is so pretty and every thing you modelled is so good except for some reason I just not the most excited person for those vintage runners. I guess we cannot love everything. Maybe they remind me of bowling shoes lol. Anyhow. You looked terrific. Thanks for sharing

I have been thrilled that cargo / painter style pants are “on trend” again. The way they are cut is more flattering to my body, even tho it is post-menopausal this time around. It was a huge relief when more options other than skinny jeans (which are not flattering to many of us) became available again. Thank goodness for options and choices!

Happy Saturday, Kay. I really like the barrel pants on you. I am 67 and I purchased a pair of white barrel jeans (mine are an ankle length) from the GAP two years ago and they are flattering on my petite figure. It is nice that you are presenting a variety of brands from "accessible prices" to more budget friendly options. I always like to look at the more expensive brands like Ralph Lauren and I try to find similar items from Talbot's or other more reasonably priced retailers who often have amazing sales. However, I do try to stick with sustainable fabrics such as cotton, linen, and wool with maybe the slightest amount of polyester or rayon. Thanks for your styling inspiration. You be you!
  • @judycharman602
Really enjoyed todays clothes. I am 67y old and like you have been wearing a barrel shape for a couple of years.I would far rather buy one special piece to add to the classic clothes in my wardrobe and give them a lift than several cheaper less well made items. However here in the UK most ranges have barrel leg jeans this season to suit all budgets.Thankyou again for todays presentation ❤.
  • @tangie06_33
You look good in just about anything! I cannot do white lace ... it screams "grandma's doily" to me. I felt that way even in my 20s.
  • @sherrynorte9574
Thanks for the tips. No barrel pants for me. May be modern? but not very classic. I think they make everyone look like a barrel. There are other modern pants out there, like cargo etc that are more flattering, so this is what I am going to wear. I think that if someone wears a certain style it is rude to make comments to their face. We should be more kind to people.
