An entire house plummeted into the river, crumbling into pieces as it hit the water. It happened in Juneau, Alaska, along the Mendenhall River. The river flooded because of a major release from the suicide basin, a side basin of the Mendenhall Glacier above Juneau that stretched 13.6 miles. The glacier has been melting, causing massive amounts of water to travel into the lake that’s connected to the river.

Grandpa told us years ago to stay as far away from any water source when building your house but these people didn't listen.

Never buy a home by a River. Erosion will eventually eat your land slowly but surely.

That's so sad for a person to lose all their stuff in that white house. I hope everyone who lives in that red apartment beside the house evacuates soon or else they'll end up like the house.

I was literally on a rafting excursion during my Alaskan cruise on that river in Juneau last week. The tour guide was even stating that the flood could happen at anytime

If you buy a a house near the beach, a beach, a lake, a river, a mountain because if the "scenery" don't cry when the water washes away your house. Nor do expect pity.
