Relive the 1980's and hear your favorite music blast through the car stereo in this blast from the past. The video is a 26 min ride through the streets of Anaheim and Orange County in November 1988.

What are your memories of O.C.? Can you name any streets? Do you recognize any of the songs? I would love to hear your comments about this time period, the places we visit, and your memories of them.

EDIT 2
I have updated the thumbnail and description to reflect the correct area. The title in the video will however show wrong since I would be forced to recode the whole thing. This is a video of Orange Count/Anaheim, and not Los Angeles as previously stated. See below.

EDIT 1
I realize this video is of Orange County, but since I'm from Europe, I thought OC was part of Los Angeles and thus the same thing. When going on vacation we always said we were going to LA, not to OC even though we stayed there. The title if this video is therefore wrong and should read "1988 Driving around Orange County".

This footage is like one in a million. Who would’ve guessed filming someone’s drive would’ve been so interesting 34 years later. Interesting hearing the radio back then. Most of those songs are classics today.

You have to love how YouTube is the closest thing to a time machine we have
  • The radio SMACKED back then. Making playlists like this today just goes to show how timeless those hits are.

Born in 1980, I grew up in this very area. The music, the smog, the trees. That's how Garden Grove, Anaheim, and Buena Park looked. That was my toy r us. This video is amazing and devastating at the same time. These were the best years to be alive.

As someone who grew up in this part of Orange County this footage is a piece of gold to me!
  • Can we give this dude filming some credit, traveling back in time to be the first one ever to be RICKROLLED!

This footage is the closest thing we get to time traveling 🧭❤

Thank you so much for sharing this. Being born in 82 this brings back so many memories as a child. I find it funny that in the 80's music was so good, that they're classic hits today.
  • It's amazing how something so mundane back in '88 can be so enjoyable in '22

The music is all perfect. When your young you dont realize how great everything is. 💘
  • Maybe I am just sappy and sentimental, but I cried several times watching this… I was born September 20, 1988 in Hoag Hospital, and I was raised in Mission Viejo. I spent 30 years in Orange County and now live in Alaska. Life was really awesome back then. I honestly wish I was born 20 years sooner just to have lived in that world for a little while longer. Thank you so much for posting this!! It meant a lot to see all of these places how they were during the earliest years of my life…

And this video really shows how we had a lot of different types of cars back then. In 2024 the cars look so similar.
  • This perfectly captured what it was like to be a kid in LA in the 80's. KIIS FM even repeated a song within the hour, making the experience truly authentic.

Driving around and only seeing old classic cars on the road, god I wish time never moved on from this era.
  • I was born in LA and living in Glendale - I was 10 in 88.’ My Dad was a single Dad, and my sister and I spent 90% of our lives in the car when we were little while my Dad worked driving jobs. This is what California is in my mind. The 80s , hot and smoggy but beautiful 🤩 KIIS or Power 106, or KROQ on the radio. The Santa Ana winds, neon and lavender sunsets driving down the freeway - with palm trees and oil wells everywhere. ❤ I live in Ontario Canada now. But California will always be home.
  • I love the vibe. The 80s and 90s were one hell of a cool time....

In 2022, here we are watching this with longing eyes wishing to be transported to a simpler time and place. Back then, it was just a random video. Now, we’d pay anything for a Delorean ride back there!
  • The 80's were awesome. Will never be another era like it.
