MSD Distributor Mag Pickup Removed without removing the distributor

MSD Pro Billet Distributor. Backdraft Cobra 427 Windsor Car would not start. I replaced the coil thinking it was that and nothing. Found a 60 Amp fuse that was blown and nothing. Then I called MSD.

I bought a spark plug testser. No spark coming from the ignition coil.

Then I tested battery. It was 12.46 volts. Cranking it was 11V flat

Then MSD guy said to remove the 2 wire plug from the distributor and disconnect the coil wire plug for spark plug and use my tester. I created a short on the purple green connector and spark was present. This confirmed the 6AL ignition box is good and the coil is good.

The magnetic pick was check and it was reading 5.5036 Mega Ohms. The new one ordered was 0.545 kilo ohm which is in the correct range. Car starts now

Update.. I had to cut my old cable for the coil. MAKE SURE when you get the new coil, DO NOT insert the pins INTO THE CONNECTOR!!! if you put the clips into the connector, its impossible to remove. Its a one time sliding in connector with metal sides that does not allow you to pull it. So if you have to cut your old connector. Remember the colors and cut the cable in order to pull out out through the plastic grommet inside. Once you insert it through and install the plastic holder inside the housing, then you put the cable pins into the connector and hook everything up.
