An Ancient Herb for the 21st Century

Published 2024-05-19
Herb Robert is an old fashioned herb, rarely thought of today but so useful for our technological age of the 21st century. High in anti-oxidants, Herb Robert can help us to stay healthy when having x-rays or working on computers and smart 'phones as he clears radiation from the body. Herb Robert is Geranium Maculatum and is in the Cranesbill family.

My Sunday morning coffee treat! I also have another use for Herb Robert: My garden had become a toilet for all the neighbouring cats UNTIL Herb Robert appeared! Now they go elsewhere. May, many thanks again for all the wisdom and beauty.

I had never heard of Herb Robert until I got your weed handbooks a few years back. This spring I started wanting Herb Robert in my life and my garden, so it didn’t surprise me when I was making a trail into an overgrown and long neglected bit of my land, and found a large stand of well developed plants with lots of little healthy ones too. Call them with your heart’s desire, and they will come, eh?
  • Thank you Terri. My husband used to bicycle quite a lot around the lanes here and would tuck a bit of herb Robert onto his head under his cap. He said that it eased a headache. I had forgotten all about it until now. It brought back memories. X
  • THANK YOU! You are educating us about an important, yet little known, herb. I appreciate that you showed close ups of it so I can start looking for it in the small, wooded area of my yard. We need to become more educated about our plants than we tend to be about our medicines and all of their side effects. Mother Nature has provided us with a wealth of healing and nutrients to use that we've forgotten about. Blessings from the US.

I have loads of Herb Robert everywhere. It seeds itself in pots, driveways, under my table in our courtyard, everywhere. It’s incredibly prolific. Yes the fragrance leaves a lot to be desired but that’s nature.
  • Good morning Terri! Thank you for making these beautiful and informative videos! I enjoy the scenery, the knowledge and the dogs! Have a wonderful day!

  • Good morning Terri and Lol. This is another video I've needed to watch. I first became aware of Herb Robert from a board game. I purchased Wildcraft years ago to play with my granddaughters. Wildcraft is a game of cooperation, and the players all work together to the common goal. Herb Robert is featured as one of the healing plants along the players' journey. He is identified as being helpful for sore throats, toothaches, cuts and diarrhea. He grows throughout various areas of North America, and is featured in Edible and Medicinal Plants of Canada, copyright 2014, p 222. Although they are teenagers now, my girls still ask me to bring Wildcraft to the table. ... Finding your channel years ago has been a blessing to me. Have a great week, and gratitude to you both. 💚🐝🌿

Never heard of this one but now can identify it if I come across one. Very handsome and distinct leaves. 😊

Thank you, for introducing me to a new herb. Herb Robert.❤
  • Herb Robert showed up in my garden spontaneously a few years ago. I didn't know what it was, I liked the petite flowers. When I got your Weed Handbooks I recognized it in Vol. II right away! Finally I knew what that plant was. My Herb Robert looks exactly like the plant growing in your garden, and not like the pictures for Geranium Maculatum, it is definitely Geranium robertianum, I am in Northern California. Well I do have Irish ancestors on both sides of my family tree, maybe the faeries brought it to me. 😃 Thank you for the film on this beautiful and useful herb.

Such a valuable herb! Thank you for sharing this.
  • Good evening Terri, lovely video, so much to see and your gardens are looking good. Yes herb Robert is in my gardens I read up on this particular herb some years ago I have some of pink flowering variety and white flowers, I introduced it to my neighbour she decided it's pungent smell was too much for her, Love it or hate it it's been around longer than we have, much underrated herb and flower. I always say if it was hybridised on sale in garden centres people would probably buy it, but instead it is considered another weed for the bin. Lovely day for the garden. Hugs and Blessings to you both.💚🌹
  • Thank you for sharing your wisdom and your knowledge in such a beautiful and natural way, I love your pets, the horses, your garden and you are very beautiful, I can sense that you love what you do, love from Germany
