    Precise and at the same time lyrical interpretation of these Romantic songs in a well-phrased tempo with clear voice and carefully controlled dynamics. The artistic accompaniment by piano is also admirable. Definitely one of the ten best performances of this work until today!

    beautifully artistic and moving performance. Fischer-Dieskau is really very much at the top of his powers at this time in respect to sheer vocal command, but many of his later performances have greater interpretive depth, with perhaps the recording of Die Schöne Magalone with Richter being unsurpassed. But Jörg Demus always did a wonderful job accompanying him---every bit as good as Gerald Moore, IMHO. We miss him so much---really. For German Lieder he is unsurpassed and only matched interpretively by Elisabeth Schwarzkopf.

    I first heard this recording over fifty years ago, and still love it. And Schumann still has the power to plunge me into another, kinder, gentler world. He dedicated this "to my beloved bride", Clara Wieck. The greatest love story of the 19th Century--and the most artistically productive. Thanks for the post.

    Präzise und zugleich lyrische Interpretation dieser romantischen Lieder im gut phrasierten Tempo mit klarer Stimme und sorgfältig kontrollierter Dynamik. Die künstlerische Klavierbegleitung ist auch bewundernswert. Bestimmt eine der zehn besten Aufführungen dieses Werks bis heute!
