Russell Connor is a Massachusetts-born artist with both a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts from Yale (with Josef Albers). After years of painting in Japan and France, he was invited by the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston to be writer and host of Museum Open House, a nationally televised weekly gallery talk, where the program The Artist and the Mirror is a part of. • Painter, art instructor and a television host (minus the signature hair). Do you guys think Russell Connor was the Bob Ross of his time? Please help our little channel grow by consider subscribing bit.ly/UASMR%E2%80%8B and hitting that πŸ””. It really helps us attract more and better unintentional ASMR videos. • The way this guy talks, his attitude and cadences, makes me think this is the artist version of Carl Sagan
  • @matatosky
It's pretty cool but it differs a lot from Bob's style. Bob was mostly just overly patient and serenely focused when painting. This man's sleepy delivery is pretty relaxing tho. The entire clip reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode monologue of a main character.
  • @hollowneedles
"Those of you who do paint and know what I'm doing wrong; please don't write in to tell me. " "It's too bad this isn't one of those shows where you could telephone in and tell me what I'm doing wrong." Thank God there was no YouTube.
  • @Ciowan
His speech pattern kind of reminds me of Hugo Weaving's character Agent Smith from The Matrix.
  • @crenshawshank
This is some high-octane ASMR you've found. His monotone, getting to see what he paints, and his expression of focus checking the mirror offered some really great tingles. Thank you!

Russel Connor, the artist featured in this video, was born June 15, 1929 in Cambridge, Ma., and passed away on March 24, 2019.
  • this isn't very ASMR to me but I do like this video for other reasons. Being an artist myself I appreciate how he talk about art history as he paints. He's very good with the selection of words he uses. I envy people that can do that.
  • @hollowneedles
He actually sounds a bit like Mister Rogers. Also, I think he was an ensign on Star Trek.
  • What a great find! I had never heard of this guy before today. Thanks!
  • @BriarLeaf00
This is actually super interesting, hes got a great way of presenting without taking himself too seriously, which almost feels ahead of its time. I'd love to see more this is really top notch both with asmr and just a fascinating video in general. Nice find!!
  • If anyone is curious about the year that the video orginates from, it is from 1964.... I found out from the original source....
  • Y'all not only is this guy still alive, he's still working, and has had a fair bit of success in the trump era doing satirical/political work
  • @ARTofTY-TV
Thank you for sharing this! I think it's easy to forget that he was working from color here. Finding the proper value in color is one of the hardest skills.
