Night of Thunder is National Trail Raceway’s big annual summer bash featuring many different classes of racing and famous cars in attendance. In 2021 they hosted Nostalgia Funny Cars, Nostalgia Dragster, Nostalgia Super Stock, Blastro and More.
National Trail Raceway is an NHRA member quarter mile drag strip located near Hebron that hosts some of the biggest drag racing events in Ohio. It was first opened in 1964 and was the fifth largest facility at the time. #DragRacing

In 1969 I went to a Funny Car meet. Jungle Jim ran a 7.19, at 202 and the crowd went wild!

I lived thru this golden age of Drag Racing! Long smokey burn outs, dry hops, and there was nothing like nite-time Drag Racing for sure. There was a certain atmosphere of excitement that was just Intense and quite frankly addicting. Nitro & Rubber. Surprised they didn't make a cologne out of it. Wait,. That might be a good Idea!,...👻

This was really cool to watch but I don't believe there was a nitro car in the whole bunch, judging by the lack of cackle, the high launch RPM and the 3 speed transmissions that you could clearly hear being shifted.
