Lyrics:
I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring me down, oh no
So don't you bring me down today

My brother died from suicide on July 13, 2021 at the age of 19. He suffered bullying from the world because be was gay. He never came out to my family. Just know brother that while this world may be cruel, I will always keep your name in vein. You changed the world of hundreds. Hundreds came to your funeral and my life mission is now to make this world a better place. ❤️

This song saved my life. This was the first depiction of who I was. I felt seen. I felt accepted.

She tackled bullying, LGBTQ+, body dysmorphia, eating orders, racism, and self-acceptance in 2002, wow
  • @MichaelAmioArt
Released in 2002 but it tackled all the issues relevant TODAY: bullying, racism, LGBTQI, eating disorder, self-acceptance. This song is truly an anthem.

This song aged like the finest wine ever created
  • The video makes me want to cry every time. It is so sad to think that if you don't fit into the mainstream perceptions of "beauty", then you just have no place in this world. There should be more messages like this.

At almost 60 years old, I have re-discovered this song and video. I'm a dude. A 'masculine' man. But over the course of my life, I have known each one of the characters depicted in this video. At times, I knew several people struggling with their place, and acceptance in this world. Now getting to be an "old" man - I feel so much more empathy. I've lived in a squalid room downtown. I have sisters that went through body-image issues. Punk friends who explained their reasons, and their individuality. Girls who had a tough time with bullying. I relate mostly with the skinny guy discovering weights. Not so much on the trans-thing, but I have become to have much more empathy. Fortunately I've stayed in touch with friends of varying life-experience. Nobody needs to record another song for me - as I'm main-stream. Lots of songs speak to me. But watching this reminds me of a time when so many "acceptance" issues were so much harder. Remember: You are beautiful, no matter what they say.

Back then, in 2002, I was a 17 year's old gay-boy living in a small town somewhere in Poland. Shy of who I was, and afraid of who I will be. I was not a POP music fan neither of Christina. But when I saw this clip on TV I just froze down from outside and felt that I'm burning inside. Honestly! I was just watching the kissing couple and, believe me, or not, but that was a turning point in my life. I really started to think that I can believe that I'm beautiful, like those kissing guys, no matter what the others say. Thank u Christina for making my life easier. now I'm 35, out and proud, living with my partner and our 2 beloved dogs. And yes the love we share is really beautiful. Thank you!

57 years old boomer guitar player here who still cry every time I play this song. No matter when I do it. I dont need be gay, to be fat, to be bullied to be touched by this feeling. The only thing we need is to be sensitive, and we lack of it in this century.

This songs applies to all marginalized people, including refugees, victims of genocide in Gaza, special needs individuals, LGBTQ population, and the list goes on. Every time I listen to it, I cry. Also, if you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong, just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snow, lies the seed, that with sun's love in the spring becomes a rose.

I was just a “normal” teen and I got bullied so much I was suicidal. Christina’s song inspired me to live

Christina's performance of this song was truly moving and filled with deep sadness. It resonated with many of us who have experienced insecurities.
  • At the beginning of the century, years before Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera was the first artist to show bullying and homophobia as two scourges. Long before other artists. This song has saved countless lives, and will always be one of the most beautiful songs ever.
  • I am surviving cancer. Healing from surgery last of 7 in the past 4 years. It has taken it toll and left it's scars. I am here. Healing. Your music helps. Thank you so very much.
  • Beautiful song, I'm a straight male, however it really has gorgeous lyrics .!!❤
