This game introduced collecting coins, it introduced hitting blocks by jumping against them, it introduced turtles, pipes, fireballs... A lot of people call Super Mario Bros weird for having a lot of random elements, yet they seem to forget half of it is from this game.
  • @MrGoatYouTube
Bro, the production value here is insane, this is so absurdly high quality
  • @CharemTheShadox
After you passed the NES era, I was absolutely ready to leave a cheeky 'you forgot Super Mario Bros 3's battle mode!' comment, but I stuck with it and lo and behold, you didn't forget! Great video, and thorough too!

As a side note for the GBA version, if you find the early levels too easy it's because once you get good at them you are supposed to do combos: if you setup multiple enemies and kill them in a row you get way more points and stuff! It's that kind of mechanic new players can safely ignore but adds that little something to make great ones plan ahead. If you mess up you set-up the enemies level up, so it's a risk vs reward thing too!

Fun fact: the game and watch version of Mario Bros came out 3 months before the arcade version, making it technically Luigi’s debut game.
  • @ShinoSarna
26:50 Fun fact I had no idea about - this GBA version of Mario Bros can be played in multiplayer even with different carts, as long as both had Mario Bros. So putting it on every GBA Mario game has a purpose!
  • The GBA version of Mario Bros will always be my childhood. That being included with the Mario Advance games gave me plenty of extra entertainment as a kid. Great production quality, I'm glad I finally found this channel recently!

If you like Punch-Ball Mario Bros. Then you'll love Anton-Ball, available now on the Nintendo E-Shop. Made by the same team thats working on Anton Blast, which is another game based off of Wario Land. This game combines both Virtual Boy: Wario Land and Wario Land 4. If you want a game thats based off of just Wario Land 4, then you'll love Pizza Tower.
  • @KittyKatty999
Ah, yes. The game Chris Pratt loved, where he always jumped on the KOOPAS!
  • @Illoosion
Kaettekita (帰ってきた) means “came back”, so the title of Kaettekita Mario Bros. literally means “The Mario Bros. who came back” Or you could think of it as “Return of the Mario Bros.” Edit: and it’s pronounced like “kite-tecky-tah” (first syllable is as in ‘flying a kite’)

''Playing every single version of [blank]'' is probably my favourite series on this channel. not that the others are bad! I like the others too. but I've always been fascinating with history, and programming, and what difference different versions of games can have. so if you find more games that has millions of versions, I wouldn't mind watching another video like this :)
  • @thomasoliver134
This was awesome! I love when you take a classic game like this and do a deep dive on the various versions. The Donkey Kong videos are some of my favorites. Thank you for taking the time to put this huge video together, I really think it paid off!
  • @Garrulous64
Multiplayer on the GBA version is so much fun. I only got to play it one time back in the GBA days, but it left a good impression!
  • @tonybeattie3980
Nice to see you doing another deep dive on every version of a game again. Would love to see more of this sort of thing.
  • @CrowtheBOOLET
Thanks for acknowledging the All-Stars version even if it was a small thing. A friend and I discovered it on accident and had a laugh about it. kek
  • @brendanblair64
I love these arcade rerelease ranking videos you do. I think the differences between these releases are really interesting, and not a ton of people on YouTube cover them to the extent you have. I know you got really into Pac-Man a while ago, would love to see one on that.
  • @butchmcporksaw
Love your content, keep doing these videos they rock+
  • @kyoshifrostwolf
Your combinations of Goomba with real footage is immaculate, that deserves its own mention. This is yet another video I will be watching/listening to many times over while I am playing a game or something. :3 The GBA version was such a nice surprise addition to the Mario games on that platform. I played it for hours.
